Sigur Ros (Said like Ssigur - Ross) are a band I've recently discovered from Iceland. I don't know if any of you guys here have heard them, and/or like them, and my guess is probably not, but I thought I'd post about them anyway.
They mostly sing in Icelandic, but sometimes English, and sometimes "Hopelandic", which comes from their song "Von" (which means hope in Icelandic). It's really just a mixture of Icelandic and mumbling but it sounds really cool.
The singer uses falsetto almost exclusively, to a large degree too. It may sound ridiculous at first, but you'll either like it or not, or you'll get used to it. The guitarists often bow their guitarists (Like Jimmy Page used to do) and the bassist occasionally plays his bass guitar with drumsticks.
I'm really loving them right now. The music is soothing, and it has a beauty like music used to have. Like classical music etc. As a band, they play extremely well together, and they are extremely talented.
But I'll let you decide what you think of them.
