    Sigur Ros

Sigur Ros (Said like Ssigur - Ross) are a band I've recently discovered from Iceland. I don't know if any of you guys here have heard them, and/or like them, and my guess is probably not, but I thought I'd post about them anyway.

They mostly sing in Icelandic, but sometimes English, and sometimes "Hopelandic", which comes from their song "Von" (which means hope in Icelandic). It's really just a mixture of Icelandic and mumbling but it sounds really cool.

The singer uses falsetto almost exclusively, to a large degree too. It may sound ridiculous at first, but you'll either like it or not, or you'll get used to it. The guitarists often bow their guitarists (Like Jimmy Page used to do) and the bassist occasionally plays his bass guitar with drumsticks.

I'm really loving them right now. The music is soothing, and it has a beauty like music used to have. Like classical music etc. As a band, they play extremely well together, and they are extremely talented.

But I'll let you decide what you think of them.

I haven't heard much from them, but they are rather good to chill to.

Yes, I have listened. While I wouldn't rave about them, I do fiind them interesting.
I was always taught to say what I didn't like about something, rather than, "it sucks".
I guess it takes some maturity...you'll get there, eventually,

    What a sad existence....
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

Haha, yeah I've been a pretty big fan for quite a while now, my brother introduced me My brother saw them when they came to NZ in 2006 and were apparently awesome (I was sadly not 18). He has also travelled to Australia to see them a few times I think They're pretty awesome I reckon and I find it very very relaxing music.

They also have a supporting band that travels with them and plays in every gig they do. Its a really awesome female string quartet called Amiina. The girls in it also help with some of the playing in Sigur Ros!!

I'm so glad that other people have discovered them, they really are such talented musicians!

Sorry, but can you explain "alternative"? Because I'd definitely class Sigur Ros as an alternative band
