I'ts meant to be down SOUTH this year people.

(As much as having had two rallies can make for 'tradition'!!!)
Fair enough SD, I'd prefer something down south, think Kopari could be a option for 09 rally , unless were going for 3's top, middle & south.......tradition and all .

yeah but if we make it the far south then you buggers dont get much riding in, and we cant have that now can we?
west coast woldn't be bad or maybe makarora kinda area. depends on what accomodation is available. Like the idea of danseys pass area too. What accom is available there? and cheap, we are cheapsters y'know!

Talking of tradition. I'll bring the tape measure and a prize for both male and female but someone will need to bring the cherries. Hold me to it.

Which is why I suggested in a later post that we keep it for '10.

Then we could stick to the 1st weekend in Dec.

They're even taking bookings for '09.

Another idea would be to book it for 1st weekend in December 10. I know it's a long way off, but it would be guaranteed. And it would fit in with the North/South every second year thing.

its sth's turn this year & this location is looking good to me & mrs SLR
date is the same as last year as well so wont clash with maggpie & nighthawks birthday

    cheers us

I've got plenty of good contacts in the Naseby area.
I'm sure I could find something.
    We just need to agree.

Just remember some of us up here last year only rode 30k to get to the event, didnt worry us none now .
AN even worse I can almost walk to the next two events on the calendar!

So having to do a full days ride down into the southern lakes will be a joy filled adventure. Bring it on!
Pluss the nice long ride home too........weeeeeeeeeeeeee

Post details of places worth looking at in the area or within easy ride idb, say - St Bathans, Ranfurly Art Deco stuff etc etc. and get 'em keen for Naseby.

Hmmm...St Bathans, Hayes Engineering Works, Curling Rink in Naseby (now that's a hoot!), Dansey's Pass, some great roads (Middlemarch-Taieri, Pig Root, Oterehua-Lauder-Omakau), I have a mate in Naseby that fixes up classic race vehicles for overseas clients and restores and races bikes himself, pubs all over, McRaes mine.

And I'm sure Jantar or Ruralman or Oldrider between them would know of loads of off-tarmac routes.

And Naseby itself is the most laidback town on earth.
I think its in some sort of portal to a reverse temporal vortex or something cos time definitely stands still there!
