shelf life (98)?

i live in taranaki and we dont have any 98 bowsers here.
how long will petrol last before it starts to deteriorate?
i plan on getting it from wanganui and just keeping it at the shed here.
i will either buy it in 200l lots or 100l depending on shelf life also would it be better stored in 20l lots so im not opening a 200l or 100l drum and exposing it to the elements every time i want to fill the bike.

Prob 2 - 3 weeks before it is no better than 95.

thens theres the problem of permitd for storing that amount of petrol you will need a flammable goods store

is it different on a farm?
i've had the truck come and deliver over 200l of petrol and 600l of diesal
with no trouble.
maybe its changed ,
i dont store the petrol here now just get 80l at a time from petrol station.
we still get the diesal though

Air/ envaparation is the thing that makes fuel go off faster, so maybe some 20's or a 60l drum, sealed with very little air space, and in a cool area. several months stored this way will not effect it in any way. A 200l drum would have a huge vapour space if 1/2 full, and over a period of time in warm conditions ,the lighter elements in the fuel evaparate and lost over multiple openings.

guess is might depend on how you store those liters, and how close to living quarters they are. im pretty sure the last thing you want is 800l of fuel going up in flames. [im also pretty certain your not silly enough to store fuel close to a house etc]

I used to think--weeks before3 its off.Then I fired up the ol GS500 with its at least 6 month old fuel. It fired up all well and good.
I think it might be a matter of HOW its stored
