The lastest forecast at lunchtime Fri has the Southerly coming
in a series of fronts starting Saturday and running thru to late Sunday.
Sun. morning is expected to be the worst period. Strong cold winds and showers with the odd fine interval, as you get with Southerlies. Monday fine. (typical!)

At what point do you call it off - and how will we know?

Have you considered the option of re- routing the ride over Paekak hill to the coast - The Kapiti coast is much less affected in a Southerly than Hutt and Wairarapa?

It was fine&dry in Kapiti when I left this morning - ran into the rain at Pauatahanui but carried on into the Hutt anyway (any excuse for a ride!) Met Crazylittleshit at Motomart where we heard the news the ride was off.
It ws a good test for my new jacket/pants - all good but I need to do something about my boots ended up with wet feet!

That really SUCKS! I was really really looking foward to going for a ride and heaps of people seemed to be able to make it this weekend! Maybe I'll go for a quick blat tomorrow if it clears up (heard something about hail though). btw SB - sorry if I was real quick and to the point if it was you that answered the phone when I rang the shop this morning - I was using the phone at 'TimeOut' in town at a 9 year old's birthday party and had to quickly work out what was going on!
Me and a couple of mates ended up consoling ourselves by watching bike vids later on, and then I went on a quick blast to Makara beach while the roads had temporarily dried out (and while I was waiting for the fish and chips).

Probably just up the Rimutakas and back because I don't have heaps of time. It would be about 1ish maybe? I'll def give you a call if I do, but the weather does look crap.
