    Cull the crop

Way back in the dark ages one could not afford a car, so old British bikes were our transport.Today just out of nappies the boy and girl racers are driving courtesy of their daddies wallets. Then the young mummies in their 4x4s,who don't know where the front wheels are at,are causing mayhem.Theres an answer.Every one under 20 has one option that of riding a scooter then a motorcycle. It would cull the idiots straight off,and the survivors would make better motorists, period. Hear endith the sermon according to the "DON" but

...and intelligence tests every 5 years. Fail one and we'll use your body as fertiliser.

It is preferential to refrain from the utilisation of grandiose verbiage in the circumstance that your intellectualisation can be expressed using comparatively simplistic lexicological entities. (...such as the word fuck.)

Too bloody easy to get a licence. I reckon EVERYBODY should have to do a defensive driving course every 5 or so years. A magistrate very kindly asked me to do one a few years ago, and I don't regret doing it

I don't. But I think the likelihood is that I would pass... I hope, anyway!

    Do you think YOU'D pass?

Too true. But a basic intelligence test would work as Mikkel suggested, don't ya think? ... No, seriously, I do agree. I want to get my defensive course done as soon as possible. Damn sensible thing.

Depends on what is defined as intelligent. It's not like I sit like this all day.

There are so many smart arsed comments that leap to mind but I'll refrain.

Now are you entirely sure about that?

I was being extremely sarcastic in posting that statement!

Do you know and care for anyone who you are a bit uncertain would pass such a test? I certainly do!

An elitist society might not be the most pleasant place to live after all.

The next question is - how far do we raise the bar? And when we've culled the flock a bit - when do we raise it the next notch?

I do however agree that the amount of evaluation of individual maturity, skill and cognitive powers in relation to motor vehicle licensing is grossly inadequate.

There would definitely be a limit, but no, I wouldn't want people to die for being stupid. But if there were a test for intelligence which then proved if you were worthy or not of being legally able to drive a car, that's different. Any fool can make a car or bike do what they want.

To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and to endure the betrayal of false friends. To appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition; to know that even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded
