    Watching DMNTD and Shaun through there I can see I was apexing WAY too late because it looks sharper than it is.

    Any chance we can have cones to mark rough turn-in and apex zones? Would make it much easier to pick a point on the track if there was more of a visual reference (kinda like braking markers).
    i keep the gas on thru turn 4 then late apex turn 5 theres no problem in that. it gives you a better run to turn 6 wich is good again to late apex (when late apexing you have to go over those horrible concrete patches but there ok)

    Yeah I found I could power out better but it just didn't feel right if you know what I mean. Even starting the turn-in 3m earlier I think would make a big difference.

    I'd say that the trick is to come out of T4, gas it hard and let the bike drift to the right, then start turning as early as you can into T5. The tighter the better, but you'll need to be turning hard and starting your turn almost from the left-side rumble strip.

    But then, I wouldn't really know, so don't pay any attention to that. Personally, I always end up wasting significant seconds with my head in a muddle, just coasting on a steady half-throttle between T4 and T5 where I should be hard on the gas or brakes.

    Best tip, try not to completely cock it up and go for a wee offroad excursion like I did after lunch at the last trackday!

    Not quite sure we're talking about the same corner... I'm talking about 5 on http://www.tauporacetrack.co.nz/pdf/track_1.pdf

    I think you're meaning one turn earlier in the 2-3-4 combo.

    As for off-track well.. I found my roadbike doesn't seem to mind grass as well

    Leave the turn in for T5 as late as possible...

    Hmm maybe it just feels wrong and I'm doing it right. Maybe I'm just scrubbing off a bit too much speed under brakes.

    the best advice i can give is what cowpoos told me a little while ago;

    Turn earlier

    A common habit is to square the turns off. This is great on the road as it gives you more options on the exit but not the best on the track. Try to make the turns longer. you will feel like you're going to run off on the inside at first, stick with it, you'll get better... (of course there are exceptions where squaring off can work)

    Turn 1 for example;
    Start turning in at about 50-70m, not 10-30m
    Turn 4 (over the blind hill);
    start turning in about half way between t3 and t4 not 30m before t4

    There will be loads of experienced riders there, don't be shy, most are more than happy to help a grasshopper

    After spending my entire (albiet short) riding life cultivating a late-apex style on the road that's what I'm finding I need to do.

    I started off doing that chroinically at the end of the main straight. Meant I was doing a big S to get onto pit straight. Following Enigma showed me a much better line through there.

    Find someone to sit behind for a couple of laps that has a good line. Its easier than trying to organise cones

    I found toast takes a great line through there and so I copied him one track day. Found it to be great. He climbs into the corner tipping in real fast then on the gas to climb up through the corner. Very similar to a diagram in "twist of the wrist 2" which I borrowed off him.

    Ah will catch up with you soon bout the book toast!

    Sweet dude, like I said, I'm in no hurry for it. Trying to get time to read part 1!

    Chris is pretty keen on it, just give it to him if you see him first.

    On a serious note if you want anymore help just give a yell what i dont know alan or someone else will be able to help with

    I find that in the begining when you go around the track at a "slowish" pace the lines you can take then is much different from when you up the pace.
