These were taken on a very basic Fuji digital camera, I'm wishing I had a decent SLR and telephoto lens, then I could have snapped some very cool pics.

The northern lights. A mate in Canada took these on Saturday night just outside of Calgary to avoid the light pollution. Deliberate inclusion of power poles to try and establish the size of this.

To get a better effect, switch off all lights in your room and just view the monitor in darkness.

Some images are 30sec exposure. He described them as "curtains of light blowing in a breeze".

I know what you mean. I'm waiting on a remote for my SLR to arrive that way when I have the camera on full zoom I won't have to worry about camera shake that I get at the moment from having to use the shutter release on the body of the camera.

Seeing as we are in a sharing mood....

Took me quite a few goes to get these without a whole lot of camershake and no tripod.... Came out alright in the end. The sickle moon was in the nw and the full moon was to the east.
