Mom, why take this suggestion as a personal insult to your philosophy on riding?
As any first year Psych student will tell you, positive reinforcement is much more effective in changing behaviour than aversion therapy and a such I think the idea has merit. Anything that may encourage even one rider to be more determined to complete the ride safely is worth a shot.
As DMNTD says the Coro loop is notorious and while most bins are not too serious, as we all know some have been truly tragic. Better not to have any at all surely.
Many of you have been demanding that Katman take a more positive approach to encouraging safety and survival and now he's prepared to put his money where his mouth is.........anyone else care to? I will.

LOL...nah not at all but no harm in offering incentive for riding within ones' abilities eh?
TBH I'm more concerned about a n00b attempting to "keep up" than someone with more experience who is well aware of their and their bikes limitations.
Fucked if I want to be picking people up while I'm trying to have some fun...but I will

ill offer a prize for anyone that doesnt exceed 150 k an hour.......in other words no one will win,!!

offering a helmet or any other prize (for non bins or riding within limits )is kinda ironic, lets face it no one does !! when ya ride at 140/50/60/70/etc kms (many of you will ride way faster than this ), you are not riding sensibly (and yes i have done this too)
there are so many unknows out there... to be honest the last coro ride i did , scared the bejesus out of me, as boomer, ronin ,enigma, sanx, etc will vouch for , i was tail end charlie.. and if i come this time i will do so again... over the past few years i have seen many crashes.. mostly on the track.. let me tell ya, if ya crash at even 120 kms with an obstacle in the way it aint gonna be pretty!!

if ya wanna ride like a troy corser... take it to the track people...there you will impress people!!!

just my two cents (be careful)

ps did you guys know that the sherriffs, the strouts, smiths, etc , dont ride on the road.....

    Love your styles DUMPTY.

I dont think Beyond was expecting such a big number of riders.
I thought twice about going and have decided that I will. I want to support a good mate and I want to see some of my mates.
Im going on the basis that its just as much experienced riders setting an example as it is telling the squids to pull their heads in. Im in it for the burgers so my roll will be slow.

    Novel idea I know.

If they turn up, I am sure that there are enough sensible heads there to firstly warn them about what is ok and what is not, and then if they choose to ignore that advice, I am doubly certain those sensible heads will leave these children in no doubt as to how they feel about it.
your a big talker aint ya..
when you going to realize, we aint children, we will ride how we see fit, and if you have a problem with it, take it up with me and the crew

That's because road riding makes you slow.

You won't need them, they only slow ya down, and add unsprung mass. In fact, if you lose the discs, there'll be less rotating mass too.

    OK BES thats a start.

First and foremost with group rides like this is to look out for your own safety and that of those around you so every one makes it home and has a great day. The end.

For me, fast rides are reserved for solo missions or with riders who understand what the others will do in a given situation. If you're gonna have a crack then time and place mate. Coro on a weekend is not the time or the place.

I think that the key to fast road riding is not to worry about going fast. Think about economy of motion with respect to picking the perfect line, be as efficient and smooth as you can. The pace will come over time and it will be as safe as it can be.

I had a fantastic ride with some noobs the other day, for the most part I sat at the back and watched them while I tried to be as perfect as I could. I swear I went through scenic drive and up 16 but only used my brakes maybe 6 or 7 times.

On longer rides efficiency will make you on average faster over the day. I cant count the number of riders that start out like a Rossi wanna be in the morning and five hours later they are all over the show.

Ride with people who do reasonable K's and watch how they effortlessly maintain a good pace without being dangerous. Many new "fast" riders can't keep up with riders like this for long.

You want to learn, at some point during the day pick some one in the pack that has these attributes and follow them, start near the back, start slow, watch others make the mistakes and don't be a cock.
