whos got/had one and what did you run it on?
im assuming it was 96 or whatever the "high" octane at the local station was. Im just wondering if they run alright on 91 and if they do what is the difference?

It's better to not pass and know that you could have than to pass and find out that you can't. Wait for the straight.
You can run both types of fuel fine, the only diffrence is that it idles a tiny bit lower when you put in 91 as it is not as high as 96, I ended up putting 91 in my bike because of the fuel prices![]()
BP's 96 and 98 both damaged the carb seals on my last bike, Don't know if it was a bad batch of fuel or what, but I havn't used it again. :disapint:
I use 96 in mine as I drive to work occassionally and due to the short trip I need the engine to warm up as quickly as pos. I find running 96 it warms up just a little quicker (as it burns a little hotter).
Other than that there is no reason not to use 91, the cost of fuel these days you would need a good reason not too!!
sweet. gon' grab some fuel tomorrow and stick it in my coke-bottle fuel tank and give her a run on 91, im sure my neighbours will love me well i know one side will (he has a VT1000).
Anyone in auckland got a zxr250 that wants to drop by so i can match a few things up... just where wires run, clips go etc, got a few too many nuts n bolts left over for my liking![]()

Shoot by your local kwaka dealer and see if you can get a copy or even photocopy their 'ZXR250 Parts Catalogue', it has pictures in exploded view where all the nuts and bolts go.
The idle is supposed to be 1500 plus or minus 100rmp.
I have been running the "high" Ocatane in mine but I'll try the lower stuff and tell you how it goes.
PS
I'll email you a pic of the wiring diagram when my camera is charged.
Just got back from a 175km ride over to Akoroa and back, and it ran fine on the 91,
and now that my new GPR70's are finally worn in they are really sticky.
If the engine has a compression ratio any higher than 11.0:1 you should definitely be running on higher octane fuel than 91. My bike is 11.0:1 and I'm choosing to stick with 96, as engines really disagree with pre-detonation (sevre stress and damage).
It does run better on 96, and I get more k's to a tank.
Plus what Dutchy said makes sence.
