Oh my god... Words fail me. I read this thread fearing the worst -- that MTB was an acronym for Mo Tor Bike. I now see that it stands for Moun Tain Bike. I don't know whether to laugh or cry. Off home soon to a warm bath, bottle of gin and razor blade...

At least if it stood for motorbike then the link would have been a bit more interesting.

    To be fair

MTB has always as far as i can remember, been an acronym for mountain bike. And they're a good way to train for riding (of the more strenuous variety - the type that will be on show at this weekend GP). Improve balance, control, fitness, etc.

And if you come off 9 times outta ten you are o.k (but i have many stories about the ones who weren't).

MTB is NOT an acronym for Mountain Bike. Its original use was Motor Torpedo Boat, a Royal Navy term from the second world war.

This thread was a major disappointment.

Here I was expecting some tales of derring do from the Knights of the sea and instead we have some pedal pansies who haven't realised that the internal combustion engine replaced pedal power about 100 years ago for a reason.

Within your "club" you don't. For some of us who are not quite at the same level of intellect do require visual aids to comprehend the message being portrait.

I always liked them books with pictures in them...

Nothing to do with intellect, old bean, and an impressive use of ellipsis there.

[Pedant alert]: That should be "portrayed". [Emoticon for "wry sarcasm" or "Catholic guilt" goes here]

Shouldn't your signature be spelled "Exodus"?
