    Christmas Party ...... The day.

I think WET WET WET said it best...

I feel it in my fingers ,i feel it in my toes...
WATER all around me ,and so the felling grows.
It is a bit scarey, When the rear keeps letting go..
but i hav heaps of fun, thought i'd just let you know.

Yip the day started with the toy run and a much bigger turn out than i expected for the weather conditions. Afterwards we milled around colemans looking for a good buy and then off to westgate to meet up with who ever. Went on the ride to wellsford but after my tyres let go for the 10th time i just started to nana'r it. Had a bit of fun anyway and playing with the traffic on the way back is always a blast. I then shot ot to Speedmedics place with TS for a bit, After which i headed out to devenport to see Frosty selling some cars. FRom there we headed surprise surprise to westgate and on to parakai. HOT POOLS ARE GREAT. Expecially when you can no longer feel your fingers. After soaking for a few hours me and zapf headed back home at about 10:30, Funnily enough even though it was dark, cold and very very very wet i found the ride home quite enjoyable. :spudbooge

Thanks to all who showed up it was great to meet some new people and see familiar faces. Big ups to those who came a hell of a long way and hope you all had safe journeys home. Looking forward tot he next one

    Cool great day it was

Yep you are quite correct in stating it was wet, wet and blardy wet.

Yep the back wheel didnt like some corners.... .... and riding throu lime at one set of roadworks is not nice....
When I finally got home I hosed the bike down.... but I havent checked the bike out this morning to see how well I hosed her down... I did it in the dark....lol

Traffic was a tad heavy heading to Wellsford.... and someone was moving house in a convoy....

I am still drying all my gear out.... all in the hotwater cupboard... two sets of gloves were sopping wet. (thank goodness I have a third set) Even the jacket is still wet.

No I didnt brave a swim as I figured I didnt want to be feeling even more colder riding home....

Thanks to Holy rider for riding behind me on the way home til I turned off.

It was really great to meet so many of you all in one day, what a friendly bunch of people you all are. :spudwave:

Toads and family I hope you had a safe trip back home.

    Yep,

It was verrrrryyyyyy WET!!! Everything got soaked.

But in a way the harsh conditions only added to the allure of the ride

Glad I stayed the night. Riding back home in those conditions were a bit above my abilities.

Today was beauiful and Ant, Jess, Rider in Black and me enjoyed great sunshine back home.

Except for some doofus in a black Ford ute who insisted on doing about 150kmph and who nearly ran into me, the journey home was great.

The wind tried to throw us down but we survived.

Yeah big ups to the guys who put down some miles to get there.

    See you all around...........

    Thanks guys n gals

I hope everyone that turned up for the day had a good time .
It seems rain is a common denominator with KB events ARGGGG
The good news is that the people at the hot pools were really happy to have us there and we basicly took the Lounge room over.
It looked more like a bike shop than a hot pools.
It was bloody great to meet all you cool people especially those that travelled a bloody long way to be there.
MR and MRS toads and Holy roller as well as the contingent from up north RIB and ant. I can't count his lady--she chickenned out and came in the van lol

Nah, no comps will crash... cos I dodged the camera's..... lol.

Well I went out and checked the bike late this morning, and I had to wash her all over.... as I had missed quite a bit of the lime in the dark last night...
So now she is nice and sparkling clean again.

280 bikes nice work, and yes it was raining and i was there. i am secretly trying to lose a title as a fair weather rider. but sadly coud not make the parakai run. work called. (what a shame) rain rain and more rain. and i'm happy to say i have my first badge but don't want to stick it onto my jacket(non leather) have to find a vest.

question do we have any KB flags for bikes? or is that just not a done thing?

and sorry i didn't get to meet more of you, so when's the next ride?

    any excuse.

I was just a tagalong for the afternoon ride,I somehow misjudged the weather,it was only spitting and I was sweating just putting my trou and boots on,so settled for my cordura pants and my enduro jacket with armour.Met up with someothers at Westgate and headed north, turning off into Riverhead Forest, coming back onto SH16 I was probably ahead of the others as the forest road is a short cut, then I went into the Kaipara Hills road (brown Mt Auckland Walkway sign) coming out on SH16 at Tauhoa,on the run to Wellsford I hauled in some bikes, but they were just BMWs,I cleaned them up and sat behind a Triumph sports bike of some sort, there was no point in passing the cars.I found the other bikes at the Shell station, and the riders in the Mac joint in Wellsford.

They were going to wimp out on SH1!! Sorry,I don't do that - I decided to head further east, going out on the Wellsford/Pakiri road.I was on some gravel roads off to the north in the Tomarata area when I discovered it was raining much harder and now I was soaked to the skin and getting cold,so headed over the hills on more gravel to Matakana, then to Warkworth,100m of SH1 (yes,I do ride on main roads, but not for long) and over to SH16 on Woodcocks rd,then back home on peaks rd etc.I went to reserve at Riverhead,10km less than normal, and 20km less than last time I rode the bike - there must of been a lot of throttle applied in lower gears to do that, looks like I was having fun on wet gravel roads...they give more grip wet than dry.

I went home for a hot bath (probably a cold bath, but it felt hot!) and didn't get to the BBQ after all.I've had my boots and gloves out in the sun to dry - and just brought them in after a hail storm, wetter than they were yesterday.Anyway,I enjoyed myself - as I always do if I'm on a bike.

    3 standing?

the person standing in 3 is Antallica.

Hey Zapf, where's the ones you took? Affy is kidding, he really does want to see them posted here!

argh, i recognise the back of my head in a few of these pics...thats the better angle anyway! The toy ride was GREAT! the motorway, all to ourselves, bikers fore and aft as far as the eye can see...worth the 2.5hr wet ride from whangarei to akl in sneakers and non-waterproof gloves...and leaking rainpants... :disapint: thanks to crashe and zapf and the others helping me get a pair of waterproof boots - never have i so appreciated dryness!(and sales at Colemans) despite that appreciation, the hot pools later on were great...*blissful simmering* windy as hell coming home again though! and scarey...i almost preferred the rain... yayy to everyone who made it to the toyride and Parakai afterwards, it was great to meet some faces to go with the names and voices on here!
Must do it all over again sometime! without the rain...:P

Vest - I have a denim vest that I wear under my jacket with all my badges on.... shame that it was raining so I didnt get to show them all off...lol. And I shot home before I did the run up to Wellsford so I had left it at home.

Some of the folks that have been riding in the fundraiser events that have all there badges on and they have hundreds.... those vest must be weighing a ton to have them on their backs...

Now that you have your very first badge..... you will soon get many more...
Westpac do a run in Feb I think it is. keep an eye out in all the bike shops as they have flyers up as to when the runs are happening.

Was there only 280 bikes.... gee I thought that there was more than that.
