Well what a lead up to the big event!
As a few of you know I've been having a few issues with my own bike and was struggling to sort these problems before this weekend.
Last night I sorted a few more things and test rode again only to find my efforts were in vain. The problem was still there and was affecting the performance of the bike to make the prospect of being competitive unrealistic over the weekend.
So being the fairly simple thinking chap I am I decided to ask Number One if I could use her bike. Being the lovely lady that she is, she agreed on the proviso she got SE (Scream Extractor, her Bike ) back the way she gave it to me. This meant all the shiny bits on her bike had to be removed and placed in safe keeping over the weekend.
I knew this was going to be a serious undertaking as I asked this question at 9.45 am yesterday morning, which just happened to be the day of Dereks funeral.
We both really wanted to go to pay our respects to Derek by participating in the Memorial ride. He was such a great guy, so passionate about racing and the sport as a whole.
Learning of the tragic circumstances of his passing has made this week hard for me as I'm sure it does for other racers but I truly believe that to honour the memory of Derek and Phil the best thing to do is to get out and do what we love.
RIP Derek, you were a great competitor, a great guy and you will be missed.
So with this in mind I got started on turning SE into a weapon to take on the mighty Cliffhanger Hillclimb. At 5.20 yesterday afternoon
Now SE is a nice bike that is fitted with some accessories that definitely add value and make it a nice useful road bike, pfft.
This thing needs to be a race weapon as I have entered what so far appears to be the most hotly contested class, F3 and theres already some big claims being staked!
This means all the suspension, wheels, tyres, brakes and bodywork have to come off Aubie (my bike the pseudo road/race bike) and be put on the SE.
Now I'm lucky enough to have some good friends and when I called for help the stepped up and really did some hard yards for me.

So we turned a fully road going nice roadster SV650 into a hillclimb weapon in about four and a half hours. The pics below are how the "teardown" and rebuild went.
So now I'm ready to go! In about ten hours we will find out if all the hard work has been worth it.
