    04 ZX6R 636 speedometer problem

Well I have a weird thing going on with my Zx6R speedo. It seems to show random figures sometimes. I can be cruising at about 50kph and the speed can be shown as random figures from anywhere between 242kph to 0kph. It changes really quickly too...like 0kph to 242kph in less than 1 second (I've got the quickest 636 in the world...lol). Sometimes it's ok or varies just slightly but lately its been showing 0kph quite a bit. I'm guessing its to do with the pickup near or at the front sprocket but if anyone has any suggestions or has experienced this type of thing before, any help would be appreciated. Oh BTW its a digital readout.

    Cheers.

Yes funny enough, I have heard of this before on a mates Honda. Apparently in a freak misshap whilst being serviced a grease gun got squashed throwing grease in all directions. The speedo pickup was caked in grease and started producing spurious results. It wasn't until after they ordered and were fitting a replacement that they realised the problem.

The incorrect diagnosis by the garage was that it must have suffered an undetected impact.

    Hope you get sorted cheaply.

Yes it must be picking up extra pulses as it is a rate meter.
Incidentially how do you find the 600 compared to to earlier 900.
