How did your ride go yesterday Peta? Sorry couldnt join you, was revamping Garageland, now the boys will never find anything they need, (cause its all organised in labelled bins, containers and boxes etc )
Went for a wee pootle on Saturday over the Kaimai's, and have decided to go to the MotoTT track day on the 21st June, so that halts my road riding a little. Im regularly surprised how much my riding has improved lately. Dont get me wrong, I still have a long way to go, Im not a naturally talented rider and have to work hard at being average, but the track days help a lot, and riding the same roads regularly too.
What about the rest of you ladies? Any great highlights lately in your riding that make you feel like you have reached a new level? The biggest thing for me is I love my bike, and Im happy and comfortable on it. Being relaxed has helped enormously, some of my previous bikes Ive just been plain scared of. I took the Ducati 1098 out for a test ride on Saturday, which is what Chris is currently working towards getting. Not the bike for me, but definitely right choice for him. If I moved onto that bike, I think my riding would take a backwards step, which is interesting.

Perfection is not something you should ever attain, but something to always strive for. For if we actually achieve our idea of perfection, is it then any longer perfect?

Heh! I'm glad I'm not the only one who organises the garage, putting things into bins! That'll teach them for leaving everything out all over the place.

My riding took a huge step backwards recently, when I dropped my bike on the driveway, but I'm finding that with each ride, I'm improving again. I really must get to a track day, even if it's just to have a look at first. And with practice, practice, practice, I'm sure I'll improve all the time.

    Wet Roads And Cow Shit

Went ova the kaimais sun/mon wet roads and wet cow shit and no visibility was a good challenge. Definitely had alert feelers on full beam. I realised how much we take dry rides for granted, so riding in these conditions was a good challenge I could feel slippery all the way. You never know when ya can get caught in these conditions, so its good to know how your bike will handle in these conditions to avoid any silly choices.

Be careful on the taneatua rail bridge - The rails will be slippery and nasty. You will be fine - just stay on the middle wood part of the road. If you want to avoid it, go through Whakatane.

    Have a lovely ride !

Looking forward to the next ladies ride. Big thanks to Peta for these days. No worries being 'tail end charlie' for the last ride, someone has too & hey, I get to laugh at the ones in front when they 'stuff' up, cause no one can see me do it at the back end. but its all totally good fun.
For thsoe that may be interested. Bayride, Tauranga, are taking names for ladies rides also. Don't want to stand on Peta's toes as she is doing a great job, but they have asked me to help organise some rides also.
I've been spending a bit of time riding with some learner ladies. They are improving with leaps & bounds, so fingers crossed, will have more on each ride to come. Amazing how the thought of riding in a 'group', if never done it before, can scare the shite out of you. But all good, and lots of fun. I'm up for new tyres on my bike very, very soon. 12,000k's since Xmas & only 1200k in my car. Says something. I 'love' my bikes. See you all on the next ride. Roll on for a another great day. Fingers crossed for the weather too.

One thing to watch for on this next ride will be the parts of the road which never dry out in the winter. In particular, the Waimana Gorge. Should be ok to ride on by the time we go through, though...

Hoping for a day and a good turn out of ladies. See you all on the ride!

Unfortunately, I have to work this coming Sunday! So that means I can't make the ride

I hope you all have a nice ride down this way, and the weather co-operates. There should be a few ladies waiting in Matata, so hopefully you meet up with them as you ride through.
