Speaking of bike parking on campus -

I had occasion to be over at the Med School today - in the car park, they had dedicated bike parks, but get this:

There was a steel bar to lock to...and it gets better...

Not only was there a bar, but there were even loops of chain already spaced along the bar so all you needed was a padlock to secure your bike!

(Sadly my cell battery was low and it wouldn't let me take a photo - will do when I get the chance)

    How well sorted is that?

Looked like it had been there for a while - how come we have to fight for space on campus when such luxury appears to have existed at the Med school for some time?

(DHB involvement instead of the poxy university administration? Or is there some hyper-organised secret med student biker gang we don't know about?)

I went riding around the ogg carpark today, seems to be quite a few parks there now, they're labelled "MC"

Do we have to pay to get in or can we ride past the barrier?

Yer, theres a large gap next to the barrier, just ride past, then go around looking for the parks labelled "MC", its in white writing, they're in most corners and odd spots. if you cant see one just park out of the way (not in a carpark) and you'll be fine

I plan on sticking up some flyers next week to let the people parking on grafton rd (in particular) know they can just park out of the weather inside

what's the story with the parking around the grafton access to engineering? it still says no parking everywhere.

seeing as cp36 is so full and the spot is somewhat more convienient for me i was thinking of parking there instead... saves me moving all yer bikes too

ogg sounds good, will have to evaluate the walk though (ogg 100m? vs cp36 50m vs englvl2 5m)

I parked in OGG today. I saw a few scooters in there, but the parks were largely empty. I was pleased that I had found a park a few floors below my history lecture until I remembered that my gear needed to be put in my locker underneath the quad, doh.
