    Mirror glass?

    Gidday,

Crashed bike, the glass from the bare end mirror got smashed up, but the actual mirror unit itself looks usable.

Where would one go to get mirror glass? I assume it would need to be cut to suit.

    Cheers,

    Stefan

Pretty much any glass place, try and get some with the same focus as your other mirror though, else you end up with one mirror that'll show objects twice as big as the other...

-I agree with sqigle man--the other thing to be sure of is how much--its often cheaper just to buy a new one

Cycle treads have 10mm screw in mirrors with built in indicators for $22 each i.e. $44 a pair. I almost bought some today but the indicators weren't bright enough for my liking (Akl commuting).

Hanne got some from some random glass place for one of her mirrors, cost about $20 from memory, they just traced the mirror and cut it to fit

But her mirrors are more built in to the bike (same colour, mounts which are part of the fairing), not just bolt on jobs

oooh, *notes down for next cycletreads visit*

Yeah, one of my mirrors now shows objects slightly closer than the other, but that's ok, gives me more of an idea where they ACTUALLY are with the two views. ><

It was Greenlane Glass i went to (in auckland, but just a shop from the yellow pages) and they did it overnight.

Have a similar problem, nothing genuine still made for a NC24 and aftermarket i was looking at two (was best idea until...) but i then saw at supercheap browsing whilst waiting for a meeting they have a replacement mirror plastic thing. 12 bucks with enough to do two mirrors and you just cut yourself and use the rubber provided and some glue to put in. Havent tried yet but will update afterwards

Ok.... gave it a go.... now have a new mirror.... was a little bit of effort, hard to cut with "sharp sissors" as instructed on the packet. However with a little bit of work my mirror aint half bad... couple of bad bits where the mirrors bent slightly from the way it's sitting but thats more down to my laziness in not fixing it than anything. Not perfect but not bad,

    Another option to consider.....

If you get the bent section in the right place, your have a built in wide angle/blindspot mirror.
I kept a cracked mirror on my VFR for a while because of that. I only replaced it because a van knocked it over while it was parked, and the only thing they broke was the mirror

The rental car I had the other week had the outer 2 inches of the drivers mirror cranked round to do the same thing. Initially it was a bit disconcerting, but then I found it really useful.
