    ICON HELMETS, Any good?

Well it's that time again; time to look for a new helmet.
I've seen these Icon helmets advertised in the States but don't know what they're like.
So has anyone got one or know of someone that does?
I'm interested to know what the fit is like or if similar to Shoei, HJC etc?
Also how the venting works or any noise problems since they're a little different from the conventional design?
Will post up a pic of what I mean later.

The reason I'm looking at one is they're a cheaper option to get carbon composite light weight helmet. Also they have some of the few graphics that I like.

    Does this help?

Icon stuff is very popular with the 'urban sportsbike' lot here, by the look of it. A bit more about fashion than function, really, altho' I think the stuff is of reasonable quality, from what I've looked at in the shops.
Helmets look as if they're similar to HJC, KBC - probably made in the same factories. That's not necessarily a bad thing. Just not Arai or Shoei. But not that price range either.
    Cheers

Thanks for that it was a good read. They don't sound to bad but that visor issue puts me off.

Certainly is but most helmets have some version of a spoiler these days, thats why I was wondering about noise on these as it seems a bit more out there.
Well at least it would match that ironing board on the back of the car.

I remember reading a post in a thread a while back from someone who had imported one a while back and found it to be the most uncomfortable helmet he'd ever had, but perhaps his head was just the wrong shape for it.

Don't buy helmets on Price or Fashion. Buy them on fit.

Only order one if you can either try before you buy or send it back and get a refund if it doesn't fit.

Price has nothing to do with how good a helmet is at protecting your head. It has everything to do with how clear the visor is and how well the vents work and how deep the paint is. Fit is everything and the only important thing other than that is making sure that compliance and safety standards meet NZ requirements.
If a man is alone in the woods and there isn't a woke Hollywood around to call him racist, is he still white?

Like everyone else says - its the fit that counts

I did import a helmet for myself from the states

But it was a replacement for one of the same brand that had taken a big bang, and I know from experience that Bell is a good fit on my noggin
