Then they win. We've got the right to insist that our schools provide the service we want. They’re our kids, if the school wants to raise ‘em let’s see them pay for it. In the meantime they need to STFU and do their job: teach the wee darlings the 3 R’s.

We need to get some perspective on this.

There is no place you could go to in the world and say there are no issues with society and government. The way the world works is that you have to earn a shed load of money and then make where ever you want to live, what you want it to be. That is not the case in NZ. Unlike most places, very little needs changing.

NZ is not perfect in many ways, but it is still a young country needing to find itself. It probably also needs a lot more guidance than it is getting to save making so many 'bleeding obvious' mistakes.

I have chosen to live in NZ over and above countries such as Canada, USA, Australia, Spain, and France. I still consider I made the best choice and I am very happy with my decision. No one is stopping me living how I want to live and it is not costing me a shed load of money.

Over and above the country itself, it is the people you need to interact with that make a country attractive or unattractive. Hence NZ over AUS any day!

School newsletters telling us what we can and can't say to our children in regard to education and teachers, demeaning letters questioning our parenting skills and emotively declaring us actively disrespectful and "unloving" in regard to how we treat out children, organising independent psych reviews without our knowledge and then peevishly demanding we pay ($680 for a week's observation) for the psychologist when the psychologist declares our children well balanced and obviously well cared for.

I could go on. But it would just be another Ranty Jim moment. I want out.

Comparing notes it is the same in every primary school now.

Volunteers are good. We're quite busy in two arenas at the moment, but slowly making inroads. I let you know when I need a hoard of bikers to impress a point

Did you pay? My second question (after asking why they did it...) would be how you somehow took liability for an unsolicited professional service. Them that wants the work done can pay for it.

Your opinion differs from a large number of the less sedentary Kiwis fleeing over the ditch. Some of that is lifestyle/income driven but a lot of it is escape from political interference.

Oo no we didn't pay and we managed to get that particular principal to move on. Never let yourself or your family become a victim. Am I paranoid? Yes. But children have been flagged as "significantly different from their peers", so we have to be paranoid.

WTF is a "life coach"?

We live in a world where people have abdicated personal responsibility for their lives (and we have a Gubmint who seems quite happy about that, and who replace personal responsibility with rules'n'regulations).
Life coaches are leaches who have recognised this abdication of personal responsibility/accountability and charge these poor saps vast amounts of money for dispensing twaddle to said poor saps, telling them how to live their lives so they can rise above being abject failures. Most of the poor saps vaguely aspire to "achieving greatness" or "being a success" or "becoming famous", which of course becomes even more difficult to achieve given the amount of cash that they give away to their life coaches, and given that the very fact they employ one in the first one stamps them indelibly as a Complete And Utter Loser.
But, at least they end up with a Positive Attitude, a new lexicon full of Positivisms and Buzzwords, and a Shony New Radiant Glow.
(Fuck me - reading back over all that twaddle, *I* could be a life coach! )

In summary, a life coach is a tosser who tells other tossers how to aspire to non-tosserdom.

They're socially interactive. They say "hello" and "good morning". They have no trouble having a laugh or a cry. One's a bit sensitive and another is a bit agressive and another can be a bit short after hours of his peers not getting it, but generally they are good kids and fun to be around.

They don't sit in a corner rocking backwards and forwards, they aren't picked up by grandparents or a paid cargiver and they get fruit, fibre, and carbs in their lunchbox, and water in their water bottle. Weirdos.
