The ever curious georgous is such a honey for encouraging me to ask...so here goes...any minute now...is there anyone out there willing to "walk" me and 'Sangria' (my beloved bike) down to taupo on the 12th? You wont have to walk me back if you dont want cause one of my chickie friends who is hooking up with me there has already offered. She's a bit of a nutter though on her Kawasaki 6R (and I tell her that too!) but hopefully the walk down will give me the confidence to maybe canter part of the way back so she wont be too bored!
You could always flag Taupo and come with WIMA and friends on our Hokianga Heartland ride 11th & 12th. We awhi (care for) new riders goin as fast as they feel safe goin very well indeed, in a well schooled group, backed back and front by long serving riders. In other groups, well, unless you are with people who know how to ride a group (ie stagger etc), ACC reckon youre 40% more likely to come to grief in one. Having ridden with some nutters who think group riding means going round me on tight corners in the same lane, Im sorta thinking they might be right...

WIMA runs slowly due to the presence of lots of learners and a definite commitment to safety for all (but there is always a small group who go a wee bit faster!) I loved learning to ride on "rides" with the WIMA girls, did my first real ride just two weeks after getting the basic skills ticket (out west), even when I had to point out 70kms is BELOW 80kms on the speed dial!

Anyway, you would be welcome to join, Im sure...and for those of you who are WIMA or Friends, we're leaving Albany and Westgate 9am Saturday, going up via Waipoua Forest, staying Opononi (on local marae) that night, hopefully soaking in Ngawha hotpools at some point, and cruising some lovely roads both days.

What sort of time are you thinking of heading out for this "walk down" to Taupo?

Hey guys and gals, thanks heaps for the interest and welcome - you all rock!
I'm up for anything - leaving early as; catching up when you stop for lunch; meeting up at the hospital; going through hamilton; daytripping with WIMA (another day); joining WIMA (!); and meeting kindred L plate spirits like myself for conversations about how much oil is too much.
Let me just clarify that I am definitely a slow rider so if patience is your virtue just leave me instructions and lead the way. By the way, you do have to know the way too, cause i don't.
