You could always flag Taupo and come with WIMA and friends on our Hokianga Heartland ride 11th & 12th. We awhi (care for) new riders goin as fast as they feel safe goin very well indeed, in a well schooled group, backed back and front by long serving riders. In other groups, well, unless you are with people who know how to ride a group (ie stagger etc), ACC reckon youre 40% more likely to come to grief in one. Having ridden with some nutters who think group riding means going round me on tight corners in the same lane, Im sorta thinking they might be right...Originally Posted by Mars
WIMA runs slowly due to the presence of lots of learners and a definite commitment to safety for all (but there is always a small group who go a wee bit faster!) I loved learning to ride on "rides" with the WIMA girls, did my first real ride just two weeks after getting the basic skills ticket (out west), even when I had to point out 70kms is BELOW 80kms on the speed dial!
Anyway, you would be welcome to join, Im sure...and for those of you who are WIMA or Friends, we're leaving Albany and Westgate 9am Saturday, going up via Waipoua Forest, staying Opononi (on local marae) that night, hopefully soaking in Ngawha hotpools at some point, and cruising some lovely roads both days.

so if patience is your virtue just leave me instructions and lead the way. By the way, you do have to know the way too, cause i don't.
i'm walking Mars back on sunday so would like to get the speed out of my system before then!
