    6 tyre shootout

    Tyre opinion/experience shootout

Guys and Girls I am up for a new set of tyres on my KTM 990 superduke.
I've narrowed it down to the following 6.

    (in no particular order)

    Bridgestone BT012ss
    Conti SportAttack
    Dunlop D208RR
    Metzeler Sportec M3
    Pirelli Corsa III
    Mitchelin Pilot Power 2ct

I have done soooo much internet study in the last week, im starting to confuse myself.
The prices between them is $50 so not an issue.
I ride hard on the road, but would like the ocasional track day.
    Mileage isnt really a problem.

Any thoughts or experiences would greatly help my decesions.
Please only reply if you have used any one of these tyres yourself and have a personal opinion.
Thanks and loking forward to your comments.

because I have narrowed down my list and corsa III's came ahead of super corsa. Are you running supercorsa? what riding are you doing and on what bike? I hope to get a feel from everyones opinion and this thread will be good for others in the same boat. Cheers

Did you click the link? They're $250 per pair, ex race. At that price you can afford to try them for yourself.
I only use ex race tyres, all weather, road and track. Medium compound are good for around 3-4000 road KM depending on riding style

Nice choice of bike by the way ,where did you get her from. No help on the tyre front as I fit tyres that I want to get good mileage from. I'm on my 9th rear & 5th front.

Can you still get the 12ss, I thought this was superseded by the 014, which was superseded by the 015, now we have the 016 I believe.

I've used pilot powers and really liked them. Metzeler m3's and I don't like them they were nice and sticky but unpredictable and I nearly highsided twice on when I pushed it and it tried to swap ends (once on track once on road). Currently got the bt015's that are standard on my new bike and no complaints with them but I will replace with pilot powers when worn. I hate buying new tyres because you wan't to try something new but if you don't like them your stuck with them for the next 5000km

It's the BT002 Streets he should be on. Which is my recommendation. Been through two sets of them now (and have used Powers, 2CT's, M3's, diablos). Love them.

get the michelins. A very predictable tyre, even when pushed to their limit. Sticks like poo to a furry blanket.

I got 'em on the R6 & totally agree. The set I have have done just over 10000ks , including 2 trackdays,& a 3000k tour of the Nth Isl. Reckon I got atleast another thou. on the back & I reckon I might get several more from the front yet....Great in the wet too.

I'm currently running the new supercorsa's (sc1 rear and sc0 front) on my Gixxer, these things are farkin brilliant! (what the hell? Death giving the thumbs up to pirellis!) I've run 'em on the track (puke and Taupo) and on the road at moderate and fastish pace and they do everything you could want from a tyre. Never had 'em slide on the road, and destroyed all the new thous at the last suzuki trackday. Huge grip and very predictable.
The only thing that lets 'em down is no biggie, that's just that they wobble a bit when doing fastish standups.....

Powers are excellent...wet as well...just put a 2CT on front and wow what a different...first off it was weird when it moved from the harder middle compound to the softer side compound, bit like it suddenly grabbed which I guess shows the compounds work.

Never liked Pirelli...too pointy profile for me...personal I guess...

I've found the standard powers to be shit in the feel department. Plus they squirm all over the place. Exacerbated by having a sensitive and nimble bike!
    Weak sidewall.

I am currently trialling 2CT's because apparently this problem has been fixed.
So far so good. But the problem didn't previously become apparent till the tyres were half worn.
