    I over heard a colleague at work today telling a customer that the metal detectors and xray machines at airport security can wipe your camera memory cards of photos....I told her to stop lying to customers.

    So y do they say on their Desclaimer board sitting in front of the x-ray machine that "Avsec NZ does not take responsibility for loss of data or faulty equipment while screening for Prohibited/Restricted Items"..

    it's kind of like at the zoo where they have the sign saying "dont put your hand in the crocodiles mouth"

    If you irradiate a normal roll of camera film with x-rays you ought to destroy it given enough time. However, x-rays have such a short wavelength that most of the photons will just fly right through the film without even interacting at all...
