    Flatty on the forgotten Highway

A group of us maybe 14 bikes all solo except me and another bloke went for a ride up to Stratford and onto the forgotten Highway, Great road through to the Pub at Whangamomona (excuse the spelling) Had a beer and a great affordable feed.

Then we mounted up, and away again I was always second to last and the other guy 2 up was T.E.C. We struck the gravel, very corrugated for much of the way and just about shakes the fillings outa your teeth. The lead group had got away.

When me and TEC hit the tar seal again we were getting along at a good clip, when we see a bike ahead travelling real slow. Turns out one of our guys who had a puncture, so we stopped.

I was the only one with a puncture outfit and 3 air bombs. We had a good look around the tyre (rear) for any foreign objects but nothing obvious. So I out with the Bombs and put two into the tyre and it was fairly hard and ride able. Another quick look but no obvious air leaks. So The guy hopped on his bike and Hightailed it to Taumarunui about 40ks away.

We get to Taumarunui and caught up with him at the Air pump at the servo where we all gassed up. He said he had run the last ten ks on virtually a flat tyre.

The Tyre was a bit hot and a bit mangled but it blew up ok, and the leak soon showed up. So I got the outfit out first time I had ever used it in 2 years bouncing around my tail pack.

It was so simple just poked the rasp into the hole then shoved the gooey plug into the tyre. Cut of the the excess of and away took all of two minutes. He went back to Wangas with 42pound of pressure in it.

The name of the Puncture repair kit is called "Innovations", I recall it costing me about $30.00.. Don't leave home without one they are so simple to use and a very trustworthy repair to get you home and possibly beyond.

Check out your local bike shop for one. They are worth their weight in gold. We must have done a few clicks. Wanganui, Stratford, Whangamomona, Taumarunui, National Park, Para Paras, Back to Wangas.

Not much of a story but thought I would share it with yas anyway.
    Cheers all.

I always carry one under the seat. A good product that I hope I never require.

Yep, good kit to carry ... been used once on my tyre and I've returned the favor to another biker on theirs! That dog poo sure works a treat (the brown gloopy gooey stuff)

Them's good roads down that way. My folks are back in Wangas and the best part of the whole ride is the last 60/70 km of the Paraparas. They just rock.

I have used these a lot to do permanent repairs on my heavy van commercial vehicles. I have never had one fail. Brand was "safety seal".
