I bought a back protector off Quasi early last year, since then have binned 3 times on the track, one of which i went over the rubble strip on my back. Hurt my elbow a bit but it would of hurt a heck of a lot more if I had no back protector.

Now I feel like I've left a part of me at home if I don't have it on

Haven't tried any other brands but I'm more then pleased with my one

Got a SPIDI back protector, having recently tested it out it makes sliding along the road almost comfortable, just don't hit anything!
    Don't leave home without one.

Just make sure its reasonably comfortable to wear with your normal riding gear. If its not comfortable, you won't wear it, and then it's no good to you.
Initially it may feel a little strange but you get used to it/wear it in.
I feel naked if I go out with out mine on.
I tried a couple of different designs before I found one I liked. Mine is full length, with over lapping plastic segments and a wide elastic cummerbund/kidney belt and no shoulder straps, so I can put it on and take it off without having to take my jacket off.
Try before you buy, and remember, its comfort first and price second.

yer i realised about the whole spinal not being realated, but several of his injuries were caused by rag-dolling down a hill and hyper extension of his torso....figured the back protector would be at least some forn of brace.

end of the day if u hit ur head with a fair amount of force you're more than likely recieve neck/spinal injuries, but with something to brace your back with should help reduce the injuries when u kart-wheel down the senic mountain-side we all love...

and yes full back is what im looking 4. bohn once i like starts across shoulder blades and goes to tailbone....

    looking a quasi's now....

    hmmm shipping to aus?

I don't wear it much but I've an oxford kidney belt that along with the back protector pretty much has you covered. MX route a little rigid methinks for road work - but hey, would look awesome.

Yeah? A week later my ribs are starting to feel better and my back is still giving me shit. In short: sold, dude. Let me know when they're in stock.

Aside: BTW, my crash at the cliffhanger was in your leathers. Scuffed, but not fucked up - add one to your running tally.

Dunno if they're available here but the Knox stowaway is a goodie for general day to day stuff as it rolls into a wee bag when you're off the bike. As I'm racing I should really get a solid type from Quasi.
