ACC rates for self employed

Just out of interest,'cos I got my ACC bill for the 2008yr today, what do you self employed people pay on a %age basis to these robbers?
I pay 7.5% of my taxable income in ACC. Or rather, I'm not going to pay it until they can convince me why it is so much. I have claimed it once to subsidise some osteo therapy to the tune of $50.
I am a sole operator so it fuckin hurts to be ripped off so much!

Mate that load of grave robbing scum that calls itself Acc won't have told you about there cheaper reaming scam.Its called cover plus.Basicly you choose the amount of cover you want knowing full well theres no chance of ever getting it but its alot cheaper they decline your claim faster.Take out as little as you can then get privet cover

Sorry Laava, but there is no option of not paying it. Yes, ACC is very expensive, particularly for sole traders. On the other hand, it's well and truely offset by all the huge tax advantages sole traders get versus PAYE payers.

i am self employed and operate under a trust.
i dont take a wage just drawings off the trust.
since i get no wage i have no acc bills , but i am not covered by acc for any work related incidents.
i have an insurance broker and we are under sovereign and have found them very very good for the claims we have had.
with private insurance read the fine print.
we were with a company that we were happy with, but it was brought to our attention if we take a claim they have the right to refuse us cover on that ailment again. with sovereign they cannot alter our policy regards claims until we turn 65.
its the little things that matter that we are normally not aware of.

A lot depends on what your industry is with ACC also.

If you don't pay you will just incur penalties, so my advice is to pay up by the due date. Arguing with these morons will get you nowhere... just more frustration! and a feeling of hopelessness....

A guy who worked in ACC was getting prices for the rental of a bouncy castle for some charity (I think from a guy in porirua), the guy gave a price and said that since it was for some charity he would do it for something like half price for cash. Guess who got the IRD glove treatment?

If you want high ACC costs, climb trees for a living.
