Speedo / Rev counter drive blocker

    Gidday,

I've pulled the speedo and rev counter cables out of my XL250 trailbike. Has anyone got any tips on what to use to block them up?

    Why pull them out?

    And why block the holes?

On my KDX I just cut a small disc of plastic and put that in the speedo drive hole then used silicone over the top. You could just use the silicone but it's a pain to get it out should you ever want to reinstate the speedo. Could probably use the same technique on the tacho drive hole in the head.

Which year XL250? I'm guessing it's a little more modern, but I've actually got the rubber/steel blanking off disc for the tach drive on the 79-82 pre-RFVC models sitting at home.

If not, compare it with the XR250 engine, which is possibly blanked off (not road legal) to start with. Then ring up Econohonda and buy the appropriate blanking plate for $10.
