Yep, just drove to South Taranaki and back. Was an interesting one. After getting a couple of speeding tickets last year, my demerits were not looking too healthy, so having been a REALLY good boy for the past year, I was back on track with 60 demerit points up my sleeve. Halfway between Ngaruwahia and Otorohonga, it happened.
Had spent the whole drive happily with the speed control set to 105kph, it was 6:00am and heavily foggy, thus any traffic I got stuck behind was nigh on impossible to pass safely. Had one lovely, straight section of road with bugger all fog and only a dot of car headlight far on the horizon, so I pulled out to overtake the car and boat in my way, which naturally required a bit of haste. Never would have thought oncoming car was Highway Police. 139kph in a 100kph. GUTTED. SHould have had the radar detector in the car. So I am back to not being able to get another single ticket, or the lovely little lady from council will be around to pick up me licence.
Managed the whole way back to not crack over 110kph, and was really impressed when I checked me gadgetry that overall speed for the journey was 91kph. Good old cruise control. Set to 110kph and steer away.
Now for another year of making sure I behave!
Nail your colours to the mast that all may look upon them and know who you are.
It takes a big man to cry...and an even bigger man to laugh at that man.
