Why do Harley riders wear vests and Johnny Rebs?

i always hear sport bikers mocking harley/crusiers because they wear johnny reb boots and vests etc.....the same could be sed about sport bike riders, why do heaps of them wear full piece leathers and sport bike boots....because it goes with the style of bike/brand, you wouldnt see a harley rider in a full peice green kawazaki suit but kawazaki riders wear them and you wouldnt see a kawazaki rider in rebs and a harley vest but harley riders wear them....i think for most people they wear what goes with the bike

Nope. Bike's blue/white. Leathers are Blue/black and a little bit of silver. Gloves are blue and white. Boots are black and red. Helmet is either blue/black or black/white.

I did however attend the 2003 HOG Nationals in Wellington if you'd like to talk about typical. 1400 identical leather vests, varying degrees of embroidery. 1400 black crash helmets. Only 850 pairs of black gloves however, the other 550 were fingerless. 2800 Johnny Reb boots lined up, that was a sight.

There were however three very cool cunts wearing bright blue hawaian shirts. That was a welcome change.

Leather vests are a joke. I wore them for years then one day I looked at it and thought what the fuck is the use of this piece of shit, went down the shop and picked up a grey and black bike jacket, She's light, fits well, cool and comfortable. Plus its loaded with pockets. also picked up a modern set of gloves at the same time.


As for Johnny rebs, Shit little dancing shoes, My steel caps would crush them in every way.

The real question is being missed, not why you wear whatever - its why we mock eachother!!!!!
I don't wear vests & reb boots - and never will.
I don't wear flouro jackets - and never will.
I don't wear full race leathers for a quick ride up the coast - and never will.
I dont wear a hat(or other garment) with a zillion badges on it - and never will.
However I realise we are different and don't see the point in mocking them coz when you sit down and have a beer and yarn with most of them they are OK people.
We tend to mock people who are different coz we feel superior - or at least makes us feel superior.

Before you ask - my gear is black or black and grey(road jacket) and as the leathers were bought second hand by fit not colour they are black and the helmet was black coz the blue one that did match my bike was a size too large.
OK -so I wear BLACK - go ahead and Mock me!
