I, too, belong to the "We are all motorcyclists" group. Wear what you want, who cares what others wear, who cares what others think of what I'm wearing.

I guess I'm a riding stereotype on my sportsbike in 2 piece zip together leathers and race rep helmet.

But you know what? I don't wear/own black clothing of any sort. Just personal choice.

I've always found that if you park next to other bikes, take the time to look at them, then scan around for the owner (easy to spot) and say something like, "nice bike, where are you headed?" you can instantly leap past the whole Harley vs jappa thing. If someone responds to this with a stoney face and a grunt, well, that is their problem- don't make it yours!

    Those are my thoughts.

These days, not so much.
Those people are still around - just the other day I was parked up using my cellphone when some young fella on a rice burner pulled up to ask if I was ok. Good on him.

I see no point in wearing a leather vest unless you have a patch on the back otherwise it would spoil a good jacket.

At least sport bike riders will never EVER utter the phrase "I like these chaps, but I'm looking for ones with more tassels".

Ahhhhh agree the safety of the internet....Making a statement to another person already knowing the very worst they can do is abuse/reply/red rep ect....Staple diet of most KBers and yes I have eaten from this table too when im Troll hungry.

I say before we became a nation of "Oh your words made me feel bad "....It was quite normal to give shit to your work mates rugby team mates bike mates....A shared understanding that comes from knowing someone and that its just a joke.
Between this the trolls knowing that the chances of meeting you is quite small and there being no app available yet to reach though the screen and smash some smart cunt(My personal option) all add up to Forum carnage.

Fucking hate Harley Fergusons as a bike and the mentality it seems to fester in SOME of their riders minds...But you can say that about any style of bike or rider...Personal choice.
Id still put my feelings aside and stop for any type of biker or driver and I have more than once...Not sure if this makes me a hypocrite or a human being with morals and I don't really care.I just feel good afterwards when I have been of some help.

Go on then enjoy the rides and don't worry about the gear you're wearing, no one else should.

Correct, I am just off for an hour or two of face ache from the constant grin. Bewty full day down here, well apart from the chilly East Sou East that's blowing.

Thumbs down Imagine if you had to dress to suit the car you drive?

It's all marketing in the end, "HD sell a lifestyle not a bike" blah blah blah to live the lifestyle you *have to buy our clothing from the Motorclothes (copyright Harley Davidson) online store.

Riding a sports bike you *have to look like Marquez with corporate sponsorship logos all over ya.

    * You don't 'have to'

    Agree you don't have to.

I ride an adventure bike wear a full onesie race suit Knee sliders Kevlar race gloves back brace ect ect Completely ruined the "Longway down"look Hot as fuck in summer esp offroad....Don't need it when upright but if the day comes that I do.....

Always a shame when A 'Look' 'Style' or want to be included in a group like all the other sheeple while claiming to be 1% Rebel and different to normal riders out weighs common sense safety and wearing gear that will protect you better and save your life.

I guess that makes me a 'Cross dresser'

Are some of you replying to posts that were written over eight years ago? I might go back and read the thread because there were some good dudes posting then and not all are still with us, either on KB or in the land of the living.

Still, replying to an eight year old post seems a bit hopeful.

Message to myself, don't read the last post first.

Looks like nothing much has changed as far as opinions and attitudes go in the last 8 years.

Every time I ride I wear my Dri-Rider jacket with protection in the important places, the Dri -rider pants needed some duct tape after finding the HD pipes even with the heat shields get hot.
My heavy work boots are cheaper than flash riding boots and are multi function and I wont ride without Good gloves.

I am pleasantly surprised by the enjoyment I "feel" belonging to a very large group of riders (24,000 plus Aus & NZ) and over one million world wide who all own same brand machines, the denim vest allows me to show others in this group that I am a member by displaying its recognised adornments, I am not sure if this makes me a wanna be rider, I don't really care, I am really enjoying my ride and time will tell whether I continue in the HOG world.
