Dechoking the old twostroke expansion chamber

I'm currently in the process of dechoking my ts185 expansion chamber, I did it the usual by burning it out. after i did this i realised that inside the chamber there was baffling, so I've cut it in half and theres baffling all through it.

Theres perforated tubing and a restrictor plate in it, in my ignorance i have started to take them out is this a good idea? because this could effect the distance of the sound wave travel. I thought that expansion chambers were supposed to be resonably smooth but it won't be with all that in there.

    some help please
    cheers

The TS185 doesn't have an expansion chamber,it just looks like one.

Well that blows my theory out of the water then. I was thinking of doing a project next term of making a new chamber for it, I probably can't go to wrong if I get someone here in napier that has done afew ones before. there was a low down bolt on expansion chamber you could buy, i was thinking of trying to build one of them, the only problem i don't know how to do the formula's to design one.

the old exhuast has a plate about three quarters of the way down the pipe should i take this out?
