I would expect it to be slower, based on observation of similar bikes with similar mods on the dyno.

There's more to it than just whipping out the baffles. My bike has been debafled and then rebaffled (it's not as baffled as it was before) but the mix had to be tweaked so it runs a little richer then before.

Your bike's one of them new things so prolly has a computer and injection and other stuff like that which means you should be able to debaffle and reprogram to compensate.

If we keep this thread going long enough someone who knows their shit will be along shortly.

Yeah, you'll need to get someone that knows what they're doing to fiddle with the carbs otherwise your bike will be unwell.

The carbs will need a rejet and a tune. A loud bike is cool for all of 5 minutes, then it just gets annoying. I'd say leave the pipes stock. If you wan't more noise, hunt down some aftermarket pipes for that model

Filthy is on to it. If you do insist on doing it make sure you do before and after runs on a dyno. Hopefully screwing up the performance will be persuasion enough to return the baffles.

Not likely though, I expect it will be a bit like the guy who bought the 883 with Screaming Eagle pipe rather than the near identical one with stock pipes. The pipes gave it 2hp more right at the top but less everywhere else and screwed up the nice flat torque curve.

    Re: VN Mufflers

    Gidday Rockbuddy,
    Ignore the nay sayers above...

Give Warren a call at Virgin Mufflers on 021 035-2218 & discuss your requirements with him...

He's based in New Lynn & has done a lot of work for K.B members over time

Any re-jetting thats required he gets a mate to do - between them they've got it well sorted

As an alternative I believe Vance & Hines do a system for the VN - A.M.P.S used to be the agents for them, not sure if they still are though...

    Cheers

To finish first - first you must finish... Oh b.t.w, which way doe's Turn 1 go & whats the lap record...

Funny post coming from a guy who would knock someone else who does their own custom work.

Do the work yourself and get a re-jet. Done so with the last two bikes of mine and they all sound great although still working on the one in the garage.
