    Social Responsibility?!

    Im bored......

I work across the way from a Mill Liquorsave shop. About 10 mins ago one of my co workers came running up to me to tell me that she had just witnessed a group of say 13-14yr old school girls (in uniform) give some 20+ yr old bloke some $$ and an alcohol order. She promptly rung the mill and described the guy to them telling them that he was buying school girls alcohol. A coupla mins later the guy comes back with no alcohol and a lady from the store and said something to the girls who then scurried of somewhere. He didnt give their $$ back which I thought was a tad mean...
I jokingly told her that she should have let the guy get their alcohol and then go down and steal it of them, I was joking but she didnt think I was and said I was a bitch, didnt bother me as im used to it but I do find it a little amusing, especially since she's supposed to be working!

So tell me, what would you guy's do in this situation? Its bound to happen again!

You did the right thing, but even if you set up camp outside that shop to make sure it did not happen again.. they will go elsewhere.

You saw something wrong acted on it. No need to worry about it, parents problem. I am sure if someone else noticed similar scenario they would do the same thing.

hehehe, im definately not one to judge as I started drinking, smoking and general naughtiness very early on in life. I dont think I would've done what my co worker did just for that reason. But who know's if it were someone I knew I just dunno........

You did great! Kids will be kids, but at that age they just shouldn't be fooling around with alcohol. You just might have saved them from being taken advantage of by some loser!

Yeh, that was why I was torn, but I do have an aversion to people sticking their noses in. I am positive there are heaps of thirteen and fourteen year olds in this country who are more than capable of getting hold of "some" alcohol and having some fun without major issue.

Therefore while I also dont agree with what your co-worker did (and dont think I would do it) I would in most likelyhood be doing something if said girls had consumed the alcohol and no longer appeared "safe" or capable of "taking care of themselves".

As per my last post, there is still a difference between buying alcohol and when and wear and how you use said alcohol. I mean if they were heading home to consume a bottle of cheap wine between a couple or three of em then they were (most likely) out of harms way..... barring of course being caught by parents

I guess the question really is this:

What action would you prefer an observer to take if they witnessed YOUR daugther trying to source alcohol by proxy?

Personally I don't know because I don't have any kids. But I'm thinking I'd be thankful that someone wasn't afraid to interfere.
