I haven't spoken to either of your mum's at all - ever!
They shall not grow old as we that are left grow old.
Age shall not weary them nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the evening,
    we will remember them

haha, yeah the wild field ones kinda need peeling, normally growing in cow paddocks and stuff, so can be a bit icky, they don't take too kindly to scrubbing like the parkvale ones which don't need peeling. But that she sat there and peeled all those mushrooms before sending them is way cool!!!

Yummm fresh mushies , I would wander (carefully, quietly and after dark) through the neighbouring farms collecting mushrooms.
Mum would then fry them in butter and serve them on toast that night.

All you needed was a little moonlight and you could spot the mushies easy as.
Lead, follow or get the f*%! outa the way.

We used to do the dawn mushy picking on the stop-bank by our house, had to get down there early to beat all the other local mushy pickers, warm your hands by a fresh cow-pat, watch the sun rise and that low mist rising.... ahh, the good old days, and yep, back home to peel mushys for mum to fry in butter for breakfast! Thank god I have some left, I'm starting to get all drooly again (and nostalgic!)
