Anyhow, now I understand what people ment shinkos were shit, too bad I had nothing to compare them with. Probably would have saved me my slow speed bin , had I changed the tires earlier. o well, I'll enjoy them now
Not so much of a burnout, just a gentle slip of the clutch. Even doing that, if I give it more than say 1/4 throttle while riding on the 600 it spins up till it has worn the silicon off the contact patch of tyre.
What you did is perfect also though. Just start a ride gently and increase pace and demands placed on tyre slowly as you progress through the ride.
Nail your colours to the mast that all may look upon them and know who you are.

When the time comes I'll get super sticky tires to see what thats like , but the BT021 are just amazing.

    END OF REPORT.
Mate BT021 are plenty sitcky to handle Hyo 250 power. They're similar to the Pilot Road2.

Unless you hit their limits on the track my research would say if you like them stick with them until you upgrade. You'll get better milage, quicker warm-up, and better wet handling from a sport tourer than a true track tyre that you can't push properly on a 250.

Of course that could all be shit

What's important is that you totally them and took the time to scrub them in safely. They do need a couple of hot->colt->hot cycles to exude all the slippery shit so take it easy for the first 5-10km tomorrow morning too.

EDIT: And WTF is with the brakes and tyres latey Zeocen had a front brake cailiper not put back on properly recently and now this (two different places too). Tempted to fit my own bloody tyres rather than risk a bin because of their negligence!

yep , tested them in the crazy wet rain today. rain drops were so big it felt I was getting hit by paintballs. tires - no issues. can corner almost as good as in the dry. great tires.

About the brakes, I'll check them 3 times each - back and front after having any work done from now on. just not worth finding out on the road that brakes are missing and corner is coming ...

Since thursday I've been riding my wifes GT250 as my Aquila is being serviced.... Well all I can say is I never knew how bad the bloody tyres were till I rode the GT in some proper rain, I felt quite uncomfortable on "slick" roads coming into reasonable corners and to be honest I've felt safer with knobblies on the open road than the shinkos on the GT. Thought it was just me not used to the bike till I felt the rear start to slide out on me luckily not much of a problem as I recovered nicely all those years on trailbikes served me well. Really for a newbie the Shinkos must be a horrible feeling in the rain.

Anyone riding on those in the winter really needs to consider forking out for some other tyres, as soon as we can afford it the shinkos are gone!

I had an almost identical experience getting new tyres fitted at cycletreads, except it was the front brake! I could feel and hear something was wrong immediatly after leaving and after stopping to have a look noticed that a whole front brake pad was missing . I also got fed a story about it 'being out of alighment' or something.

Sounds dodgy as if this is a recurring issue over there.

Brett, when i replaced that 'great' IRC tyre with a GPR100, it made a world of difference. Grip seemed similar (as that IRC got real hot) but the GPR feels(and is) so much more capable and confidence inspiring. I noticed this especially after having run both on the track.

Its funny, the other day i was talking to my mate who just changed the tyres on his 600, and he was saying how they dont feel as good blah blah blah. Any outsider person would think 'what a bunch of nonsence', but its true, tyres change how YOU ride more than the bike.

    Absolutely.

I even started getting comments: O man , you are so fast on the wet, but all it is is the tyre and knowing its limits in the conditions. So yea, you are right it changes your riding style by alot. On my new tyre I can puch it so much more and it is sooo much more forgiving. The BT021 have saved me from binning 13 times so far. Latest one was today when I happened to be doing wet coro Loop by myslef, but thats a story for a different tread.

Good tires + confidence in the good tires = loads of fun
