Thread: Travels of a coil... and other tales

Yes,so if it comes with the coil, and the last one was new, that shouldn't be a problem....unless damaged in transit.Think the water analogy again - we are going to burst part of the system, namely the coil.So we need to cause a restriction, and so increase the pressure and blow out the weak spot.So we could just increase the pressure from the input end (high voltage) or cause a restriction at the output end (high resistance)....either one will blow out the weak connection between (coil).

Well, I thought MY trip around east cape was a trial by fire, but your trials and tribulations well exceed mine by several orders of magnitude.

I watched your bike on the trailer for while and the steering wasn't set straight.. It seemed to me that it was a little vulnerable like that, but it wasn't actually moving so I let you go. I was rather shocked to read about your further misadventures with the trailer hitch. I didn't think to look at that. Who would have ever thought ...?

It felt strange passing your bike on the trailer and heading off on my own - freedom and speed again, but a twinge of sadness for the bright yellow machine that had so resoundly beaten me in that drag race - now silent and its rider despondent, so my 150 click crackle past and wave from up front there had a different feeling attached to it, not the one that I was expecting.

Some days its great to just be back home with all the toys put away safely in the shed, with nothing major broken.

Indebted to ride with you bud.

    What an adventure!
    It makes for great reading.
We were glad to be able to help, although I feel bad that we couldn't do more.
BTW folks, Hannah (her of ute and trailer fame) is Zac's ex girlfriend. I'm so glad he manges to stay friends with his ex's.. that is the only time KB has let us down.
Despite trying desperately I could not get a KB er to help Jack out in Tolaga Bay. Hannah, you rock!

I'm extremely impressed with Kerry's work (Triple Fourensics) and couldn't recommend him enough.
He's plugged his computer in, methodically checked all the wiring, found Ignition coil loom rubbing on crankcases & kinked, fixed idle trim from 43.7 (rich down to 11.7 (leaner) Its had issues with the surging idle for forever, not sure why noone else has been able to fix it. As well as fixing some other bits and pieces....
And now for the test ride... and its not just any round the block test ride, but a 700km test ride!!! He actually took it all the way from Opunake to Rotorua and back (return trip in heavy rain) with his sensors monitoring system etc attached.
All with pictures of progress, and being informed via txt and email whats going on every step of the way.

And he can also put a proper fuel mapping in, "I have also extensively studied the running data, and have built a fuel map that would cure your low speed/rpm problems and give some more mid-range. Can also adjust the thermo fan & rev limiter."

It'll be a new machine when I get it back!

Hell, it might even be a GSXR
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?
