    American website recipe.

10 pounds sheesh! serves 10 well hungry people I'd say

Point was fast food is crapola.

While we are about it read ‘Fast Food Nation’ by Eric Schlosser. It will open your eyes about the real impact upon society, not just the health effects.

It’s a blue book with a mock McDs French fries packet.

Go have a look for it this lunch time, it’s worth a look.
Don't you look at my accountant.
He's the only one I've got.

Good book. Came out about the same time as 'No Logo', but as opposed to the preachy, screechy PC hectoring of Naomi Klein, he admits to loving junk food, and then outlines the facts in a sober and no-judgemental manner. A bit like a more serious, in-depth version of 'supersize me'. Highly recommended.

I'd alos recommend the follow-up - 'Reefer madness', if you're interested in some good arguments against the 'war on drugs', US immigration policies, and their indecency laws.

I just finished Fast Food Nation a few weeks back.

The author can't write for toffee, and the book's a wad of cheap sensationalism that would be better incarnated in a quarter of its existing length. IMHO.

But it does have quite a bit of interesting data about the industry, and it's probably worth a Sunday afternoon's read.

[Edit: I'm probably being unfair when I say 'the author can't write'. Really, what the book needs is some serious attention from a good editor. The fact that it was originally written as a cheap throw-away exercise and had a very small publishing budget, etc, is probably the cause of its rather amateurish style. And, of course, after it turned into a sleeper hit, it was a bit too late to go back and re-edit it. It still does the job of disseminating the info.]

Always nice to have a second opinion. I like authors who can back their arguments up with a big wedge of 'interesting data', something that is sadly lacking in 99% of so-called factual/journalistic writing.

I would guess you wouldn't like reefer madness. It needs even more attention from a goood editor, although again, it is chock full of data.

Well back onto the topic of Hell, SC your speech problem could cause you alot of greif, use the net, i have deaf people order over the net, lets see them use the phone, the system is pretty easy to use. Even Phill Patson the comedian in the wheelchair that can bearly speak, he use's the net, he's disabled too, so we do serve disabled people, and he loves it. And as for coloured people and old people, we serve them too.

It doesn't excuse bad customer service at all thou, i forwarded this theard to my area manager who in turn well forward it to the umm founder of hell, not the devil, but he's a good reasonalbe guy and will kick some serious arse down at the island bay store for you stonechucker. Find out who the girl was and mow her arse into the ground, any of my staff disrepect a customer and they're washing the pans until thier fingernails fall off, they learn, it's a shitty job.

Lay a complaint for sure, dont be a cunt about it though, i hate dealing with customers like that, if they come to me and are reasonalbe about things i will bend over backwards to help them out and put things right, when they start getting all angus and shit, like the guy who threatend to come down to my store and throw pizza in my face then stand outside ranting at my customer's and if i tryed to remove him he'd beat me up, oh and he used to be an ex police officer and he was recording our converstaion on a dicta phone and etc etc etc what a complete fuck. I have no time or tolerance for bullshit like this. Whoa chill bruce, chill, okay i'm cool.

Anyhow i will follow this up for you SC, and it wont be a shitty voucher for fries either, Hell ain't no pizza hut.

And yes burger feul far out weighs Burger Wisconsen, you need to get you and your R1 up this way for a ride and some BF.

LOL ah no, although some interesting people do get to be police officers, this guy wasn't capable of being a parking warden, not that there's anything wrong with parking wardens, apart from the time i didn't have enough money to fix my car up to get it WOF and Reg'd cause i spent it all on the bike and had no off street parking at home so it was parked on the street out in the suburbs no hassle to anyone what so ever and got a $400 ticket for it, then payed the fine and still had no money to fix car.

I learned though, I sold the car........

I'm in total agreement, I always wait for ages before somebody decides to serve me, usually I'll wait two to three minutes while the staff are chatting about something to do with nothing. I don't bother going there anymore, because of this. I started using Pizza Haven instead, but since they closed, I now phone order from Dominoes. I refuse to use Hells as your always guaranteed to end up pissed off.

Generally the food service in this country is bloody appalling. I make acceptions for fast food and takaways not only for the same reason that P in NZ states but the general bad manners of the NZ public when things go wrong. Having worked in the public areana for a few years I can tell a few stories to back up that claim.

However back to the bad service.

Last night the wife and I went to Valentino's just north of the Square in Colombo St. Busy as hell but that is to be expected on a Friday night. Nothing wrong with the bar service and the general manner of the staff with one exception.
I ordered a pasta dish with garlic bread. Nothing wrong with the garlic bread but it came about twenty minutes after being ordered, but the main meal did not arrive untill about an hour later. As you can guess the garlic bread had been eaten. So when the main came I ordered bread again to go with the main. Still no problem but in about five minutes when I asked how long the bread was going to be I got my head snapped off. I was in the process of telling the waitress that hot bread goes with hot food but before I could finish she just walked away. One thing that pisses me off real fast is that.

Any way went to pay the bill, to the waitress 'who walked away,' punched in my pin number and here is a message DO YOU WISH TO TIP...........YES..........NO. So I pressed NO and the machine showed WHAT AMOUNT. I pressed No and here it was asking for what amount. I need glasses to read these machines and sometimes I just press the buttons without looking at the readout. 'Said No and the machine did not believe me.' That was the last straw so I had a bitch about that as well as the bread arriving too soon for the meal and "young lady if a customer is talking to you listen to what they have to say before turning your back on them instead of mid sentance as you did and, and if this establishment wants to ask for tips then they had better improove the service." Wont be going back there again.

Seeing as this thread has been resurrected and it is about one of my favourite food groups, PIZZA, thought I would ask the Wellingtonians if Giovanni's is still operating? It was situated in Haitaitai(?). Go through the tunnel and head straight down. I left Welly in Dec '77, so it may not be thee now. I used to love the pizza's from there.
