HILUX Clutch

Just found out that my 05 ute, whose warrantee is dead in 2 months, is in need of a new clutch at 42,000km. They have been faulty since new but there has been no recall.
Why do they not recall them for known faults? I am a reluctant complainer about things like this but just because it is not a dangerous fault, they try to ignore it , it would seem.
But 1 phone call and they are replacing the whole flywheel and clutch pack without even querying me or looking at the vehicle! Don't get me wrong, I am happy with this result but just seems like I should have been contacted by Toyota?
Sorry about the cage thread but if there are any of you with a Toyota Hilux with a wanky, complaining clutch, get it done before warranty runs out!

i had a 05 new shape deisel hilux that developed a thrust bearing noise and a shuddering clutch after about 10000 ks when i mentioned it to the service manager he said it wasnt the first one they had had in so anyhoo it was fixed under warranty but after a couple of days the noise was back, long story short they eventually replaced the whole clutch assembly at 40000ks which stopped the shudder but the bearing noise came back, it was due for a big service and a set of tyres so i thought fukkit and bought a auto one, best thing ever http://i187.photobucket.com/albums/x...7/DSCF1615.jpg

Speaking from a diff brand angle . If you have a hassle with a vehicle thats got a known fault and the warrantee has lapsed on time rather than
mileage, more often than not the master importer will replace the component free of charge but may ask you contribute for the oils etc used.
We have some cars that develope faults at 120.00k but still within the time frame and again , its sorted.

Some faults are not recalled as the fault may only show up with a specific driving habit which may be a contributing factor to the original failure. EG; some 4x4 owners never select 4 x 4 so the poss failure of a transfer bearing normally only used in 4 x 4 is negated by a considerable amount.

I have a 05 2WD Hilux which had a clutch in it at 62,000km, "never seen that happen before" say Totota yeah right, they replaced the flywheel as well and then told me it was due to being driver abuse

Since then it has been out again at about 80,000km because of a noisy thrust bearing, bloody thing still make a noise
