K6 GSXR 600 SET valve dilemma

Gidday - couldn't find any threads on this but:

Just checking if anyone has had experience / issues with the exhaust tuning valve (SET - Suzuki Exhaust Tuning I believe) found on the K6 / K7 600 and 750 bikes.

    My Problem:
Basically the motor that controls the valve on my bike crapped itself making a
clunk clunk noise when the key was turned.

I took it into Suzuki (holeshot) - after they checked it out I was given the option of:
    1. Forking around $550 for a new motor.
    2. Disconnecting wire #56 from the computer.

So I chose option 2 for the time being - and they've disconnected that wire.

Now apparently what that does is stop the ECM from trying to control the valve when the bike is started - however the motor will still try to do a full open / close check when the key is turned to on.
It WAS supposed to also stop the FI light from being on all the time.

Yesterday the light came on again - I check underneath the bike and the exhaust valve had closed.
I removed the tailsection, disconnected the cables allowing the motor to freewheel.
    The FI light stayed on.

After doing some research found this article:
    http://www.tfriders.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=71

This suggests disconnecting wire #30 - so I did -bingo motor stopped doing the check and FI light went out.

Have I removed the correct wire?
Also is it worth getting a new motor?

    Thanks

i cut the cables to the valve on my GSXR1000K3, it should default to being open when turned off.

#30 is the wire I cut when I took the SET valve out to put my full exhaust in.

Personally, for everyday use I'd leave the SET valve working. Taking it out leaves a big hole in the midrange (though it can be improved with a powercommander n custom map). I have a motor if you want to make an offer on it...

    2 days from a 3 year warrantee expiring?? on a k6?
Might be the time for some baseless threats!! hell, even if it is two days from the warrantee expiring, it still hasn't expired, the service "should" be the same as on a brand spanker...

There are some good threads on this, on the GIXXER forum. I thought you would have to wire the valve open once disconnected? Sounds like shitty warranty service-how about a letter to Suzuki nz? If you do decide to keep it disconnected, you will be able to strip out all the cables and servo motor, and save weight!!

I got a new servo motor under warranty...no problems since. I have also disabled the whole SET system on a friend's K7 GSX-R600, it hasn't seemed to make any difference to performance. When the cables are disconnected, the valve is spring loaded open
