Nice.. gotta love this weather... reminds me getting caught in a monster hail storm on the bike... in fact I loved it, sure taught ya how to keep the bike upright on marbles.
Dont mind riding in the rain... kinda calming... I remember years ago, a wintery weekend going for a long ride around town.. exploring on the bike... heaps of fun. As long as ya gear works of course.

Quick hi-jack. Seeing as we are talking Canterbury weather, what sort of a general forecast could I expect mid May? I ask cos I have spontaneously decided to visit some friends in Chch and want to know what sort of reception I can expect weather -wise.

Depends on the year. Last year it was nice and settled, sunny most of the time. Getting cooler as we're heading towards winter, naturally, especially in the morning and the evening, but it usually warms up during the day, unless there's a southerly wind blowing. Best bet is just to keep an eye on the wind direction... anything southerly and it's going to be colder, overcast, chance of showers or rain. NW - hot, blustery, dry, sunny, high cloud. NE - prevailing afternoon sea breeze, cool breeze but usually sunny, high cloud. Some temperature and climate info right here.
