The Probation Service - a friend of the "people"

Teen driver seven times over drink limit jailed ... A teenager has been jailed for driving with seven times the legal limit of alcohol – his third such conviction in 12 months.

It's a peachy little story about how this fool got himself locked up - good job. Buried in the last paragraphs is a real gem though ...

"... A probation report suggested Scott should receive a sentence of home detention. ..."

WTF??? The "home" they were recommending he be detained at had ...

"... one occupant who lives there has had a drink driving conviction and the other has had six drink driving convictions..."

Oh nice! Are they all asleep, dumb or brain dead? The really galling thing is that I guess they continue to keep their jobs - probably along with an apology for the stress and humiliation caused by the judges comments.

He will be out in 2 weeks... 1/3 served, the rest off for good behaviour (or good performance in the mummy/daddy game playing...)

As a teen, his limit is only 150 (7 times over the limit = 1050, which is bloody high no matter how old... I bet he said he "only had a couple" too....)

20 and older, limit is 400 (would be just over 2 and a half times over the limit...)

Perhaps he is 19 yrs and 363days old... 7 times over sounds a hell of a lot better than 2 and a half...

Imprisonment anyhow is a seemingly rare occurence these days.... Gubbermint bending over backwards to stop judges sending people in to fill up their jails and all...

Local judge here put a few inside this week for third timers, home detention for some younger ones, prisons too full.
Someone was having a bad week.
Another judge has had a daughter killed by a drunk driver, is is still soft.

You would think that would make em all "harden the fook up" in the boys club... Goes to show how little they place on anyones life, even one of their own....

    Odd

It has been shown that when you try and scare little scroats into not comitting crime e.g. taking them into prison and getting big hairy ass crims to say that if they do get nicked and sent to prison they will get buggered, it only makes the kids committ more crime as thet wanna be as tought and just like the crims inside.

I don't think home dentention work. I would make them do humiliating and demeaning work that has no street cred at all and that noone one wants to do.

    Yep he'll learn eh?Tui anyone.
Disqualified indefinately-yeah right,he was done obviously in March and May so doesn't give a flying fuck about the sentance. For his health he better not kill any of my family whilst driving.

Take the scrote to a funeral home and watch a fatal accident post mortem and see the results (would probably faint like some cops almost do) and they're the ones scraping victims of his actions off the road.

And yep I was caught dic in 2000,828mcg $850 +$130 costs and 6 mths disq, cost me another $550 for ltd license for work, first time in court as well, learnt lesson, but then I might have a brain to learn.

Some Scandinavian?? Countries have experimented with social humiliation type punishments for lower level offenders with some success.

I wonder how the public name and shame thing would go down with repeat offenders?
Put them all on chain gangs doing gardening and street cleaning work in their local main street with their names blazoned in bold letters across their bright orange prison issue overalls.

We need to send all our lawmakers & judges to study under this bloke.
The liberal scum keep trying to blacken his name, but the public keeps supporting him year after year because of the great job he does.

Arpaio believes that inmates should be treated as harshly as legally possible to emphasize the punishment aspect of their incarceration. ..Arpaio began to serve inmates surplus food..and limited meals to twice daily. ...as of 2007 Arpaio states that he has managed to reduce costs to 30 cents per day. Certain food items were banned .. mainly coffee ..., but later salt and pepper were removed from the jail.

Arpaio banned smoking in the county jail. He also removed pornographic magazines ..and weightlifting equipment. Entertainment was limited to G-rated movies; the cable TV system (mandated by court order) was severely blocked by Arpaio to limit viewing to those stations Arpaio deems to be "educational", mainly Animal Planet, Disney Channel, The Weather Channel, A&E, CNN, and the local government access channel.

Shortly after taking office, Arpaio reinstituted chain gangs, the controversial form of inmate labor which had been virtually eliminated in the United States.

    Softies

Some dickhead judge wanted to ban comunity service because the poor buggers were embarrased because people kept giving them grief whilst doing out doing it. The orange jackets they had to wear gave it away that they were community service people.

There is a reason they were doing community service and it was not for being an upstanding member of the community. I am all for naming and shaming of these sorts of 'people'.
