    SVR's PMC rnd 3

Went OK despite forgetting back protector and having to ride home to get it (not too far luckily - and warmed up the tyres for the next practice). 2 wins in the pro twins (where are u all??!! - dont be embarrassed get those things out!) despite a lousy start after watching the lights in the first race and not the flag guy (duh). Also won the first F3 race OK after everbody missed the first corner (thanks) except me and I tried not to look back - mainly just watched the fuel light change modes and prayed for the white flag to appear... Last F3 race another lousy start, by the time I was in second it seemed like Paul Buckley had half the back straight but caught him OK. Getting past proved a different matter, with Paul shutting the door a few times and riding prety hard, nearly highsiding onto the back straight (nice darky). Anyways couldnt make anything stick so it was big grins and thumbs up at the end like a couple of idiots on the cool-down - despite not winning was definitely my most enjoyable race of the day, with Paul buying me a beer down the pub after the meeting so he could retell the details - nice.
Prize giving was a pleasant suprise getting 2nd in F3 points despite getting washed out and crying off home in round 2. Someone was given my PT trophy by mistake however so apparantly thats in the mail (heard that before).

Overall a wickedly fun series without that seriousness of vic rounds - just the way club racing should be - PMC have been running great races for decades.

Thanks to all the friendly KBrs who helped out:
Dave (road rash) for giving me some gas after running out, Billy for lending some tyre warmers (normally dont bother but might have to buy some now ...), Nicksta and Leong for letting me share the shed, Frenchie for pulling cool wheelies to give me something to look at on the last lap of 2nd protwin race (welcome to RR ing, ignore those black flags - PMC black flagged me once for going too fast(!) on a practice day on the old track - they used to have a `take it easy board' that I hadnt seen!).

Next time you see svr it will be trying to be a F3 bike with shiny gold forks and slick tyres. Not trying too hard tho as will still have lights etc...
See you all again Anzac day track day or VMCC rnd 1 ?? - Stop in and say hi so I put names to nick names,
    Cookie.

PS - congrats to all you KBers out there doin' it or helping others do it!

What you need to do is rise your profile in the KB community. This can be done in many ways.

Suck up to the right people.
    Abuse someone that everyone hates.
Help an old lady across the street.
    Post up porn.
Make lots of witty jokes in reply to peoples posts

    The list is endless

And don't forget the Bling. Give often and receive sometimes.

And that thing about no one caring. Nicksta cares. But probably no one else.

Now let me get back to fitting my 750 kit.

Not true Gary - my Mom cares. She once ran down the start/finish straight at wanganui behind my ambulance. So there.

Also, if I was harsh but fair I'd ask `How would cheating help you go around corners properly?' but I'm not so I won't.

Interesting question. But made me wonder if theres any reason why F3 bikes aren't allowed to enter into the Motard class? Do they have a handlebar minimum height limit?

And on the subject of cheating:

If the rules where written clear and any gray areas addressed as soon as they come to light.

If winning bikes where checked regularly or randomly and any breaking of the rules meant "Harsh" penaltys then everyone would not consider bending the rules to get any form of advantage.

I have wittnessed bending of the rules on several occassions and taxed the person doing it and the reply is almost always some kind of excuse like its not giving them any advantage over the person they are trying to beat. Be it running nitro methane additives in their fuel, Non OEM airbox mods or whatever. Its kind of sad because in a production class the whole point for me is that ideally everyone should be on as close as to the same machinery so the riders talents are truely showcased.

ProTwin class seems doomed before it even gets going because the issues are not addressed as they arise.

Whats is the legality of oversize rear tyres? Does anyone care.

Does anyone know if they turn up without an OEM rear subframe and undertray and someone protests will MNZ (or the Club
running the meeting) uphold the rules as written and disqualify the bike and rider. If this was the case Sam Love would have been wasteing his time at the Nats.

The only time I've really enjoyed my racing has been when I've raced against someone of a similar to my own skill level and I know fact that their bike/tyres etc are very close to my own or possibly a little better. When I'm thrashed by a far better rider on a far better setup bike I look in awe and wonder how much of that is down to the rider and how much down to the bike setup.

I know for a fact if I give my bike a few more horsepower my laps times drop. How do I know this? I used a fuel addititive. I felt very paranoid that someone would smell the additive but it was a brezzy day so no one noticed or if they did they didn't know which bike it was. I didn't consider it cheating as there where plenty of other bikes with engine mods that made them way faster than mine. But that day quantified how much difference a bit of extra power made for me. Then I wondered what if I spent $5000 on a really trick engine would I be able to keep up or even win a race.

Its one thing to cheat but only a fool would openly admit to it. When caught out they always have a well thought out plausable excuse to limit the loss of credability (damage control). And I don't think its MNZ problem as its the same world wide in any form of sport where the rules are hard to regulate. Its up to the competitors to regulate themselves.

The short answer is no because there has to be a dirt version made by the manufacturer.

Firstly,I fail to see the relevance of this posting to Daves race report. But more importantly as per your above quote,Whether you want to admit it or not.You were cheating no matter what you tell yourself (read the rule book properly)and in fact you clearly knew that as shown by your paranoia that someone would smell it,BUT even more important is the irresponsible attitude you convey by running a fuel additive with no warning stickers in place as per the rule book so the volunteer corner workers and crash crews know what they are dealing with in the event of a fire.Motorcycle racing is dangerous enough,Without idiots like yourself bringing hidden hazards to the mix. Risking innocent peoples wellbeing just to see whether your as good as you think you are.Furthermore,If you think you can build a really trick SV engine for $5000.00,Think again. It cost nearly that for the parts for Jills engine and there was plenty more that could have been done to make that bike even faster but finances and time did not allow it.Try $10,000.00

Dave will understand (I hope) we have talked a few times at the track and he should know my take on quite alot of race issues. And if you look back it was Dave that raised the subject and used the word "Cheating" first.

The test was to see it if I should spend my hard earned cash on a suspension upgrade or motor work. The conclusion was I can't ride for shit and should just give up. No actually I got Shaun to supply me with a GSXR front end.

As for Jills engine mods she should have built a ProTwin and raced on a level playing field (barring any cheating that isn't detected and acted on)
And now its up for sale for $10500. Jills a person I have alot of time for and she knows it. I'm lucky to have met some really good people in the short time I was racing. Listened to alot of unrest too.

BTW what was the hazardous additive ?
