Taken by a woman from behind!!

Oh dear me! I seem to have been violated... and I am all the better man for it!
Due to the necessity of of picking up a vehicle I needed to organise transport. I duly posted the obligatory "Can someone help me??" thread and received an offer of a ride. Yay! ...on the back of a bike...! Now, I'm not the smallest of guys so I have to admit the slightest bit of apprehension - never having been pillioned alot or that far before...

And so to the journey. My pilot for the ride (Bloody Mad Woman - the wonderful Ms S) arranged to meet me at my residence for a timely departure... unless of course I was delayed by work "that must be completed before you leave" in imperious tones. I got to said meeting place and having packed (light) previously and was ready to be boarded in a second (or 10 minutes)

Woah!! A bit of a wobbly take off! That was to be expected because I, as said, are not the littlest hobo. We started our travels in true holiday weekend style through copious amounts of traffic and many mooning cage bound morons marveling at the motorcycles movement. Negotiating our way along the death highway proved not too bad until we were forced to slow to the pace of surrounding traffic - by virtue of the beheamouth on the back having legs that decided not to tuck in manageably but provide the nuisance of protruding knees. Unfortunately protruding knees don't provide the slimmest lane splitting accessories. And considering I'm a very svelte 115kgs, keeping the bike upright and balanced should not be considered one of the easiest things to do. Ms Pilotetto on the other hand did an admirable job notwithstanding the untested bung knee...

A stop for a cladding change and coffee break at Otaki proved that you can meet in the strangest places or at least ones you don't expect (a primary school friend - I haven't changed much???) and then back to my oh so comfortable armchair existence on the back. Dandelionvirke for more coffee for me (I was too comfy!!) and gas then on to Waipuk for fush an chups - Yummo! A gentle stroll through to Napier and "We're here!"

    Things I learned/encountered while being a pillion;
    a) I'm tall enough to see over the pilot! Woohoo - I like to watch!
    b) Givi boxes are good to stop snoozers from falling off...
    c) Moving with the pilot is better than moving against the pilot
    d) Bandit 1200's are very good comfy touring bikes
    e) Old fellas really do get surprised when the girl is the pilot and the guy is the back seat bitch!

Thanks Shirl, you got me here safely, in comfort and were good company too. I say, if you have never been a pillion before (no matter what your size) try it, you may well be pleasantly surprised and find that it's a nice enough way to spend a Thursday night (or a warm sunny day) traveling...

Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

Good on ya Col, I used to sit on the back behind Mrs O and ride between the big centers then I would ride through town and she would take over again on the open road.

I really enjoyed on the pillion you get to just look around and even go to sleep and like someone said, you get to play with the fiddly bits now and then too.

All the good bikes that we have had over the last twenty years have been too tall for Mrs O so we don't do much of that any more.

Still maybe we might get a scooter next and we can start all over again.

I see Gilera and Triumph are trying out an 800cc V twin scooter as we speak, should be interesting.

I think you picked a good one for your pilot, I met BMW briefly in Dandelionvirke on her (then) BMW and still remember thinking how she looked good on it and well in control of her bike.

I like seeing women ride bikes, my dear old mother in law used to ride a Harley before she wrecked years ago, so it's not just something new!

Good story and post, cheers John.

if you were avoiding a pillion who had just fallen off on the bike in front im sure you would havent avoided him like i did and be shaken up after.
