    Yamaha 750s starter motor etc

My son is looking for a starter motor for his 1978/79 Yamaha 750 triple. He thinks it is called a XS750. Came out after the 650 special, (so he tells me)
He lives in Avondale in Auckland, so if anyone can help or knows where he could look it would be much appreciated
    Cheers

Had one & the 850 also
The 750 1st came out in 77' and were about before the 650 special but were predated by the TXs, XS-1s, XS-1B, & XS-2 etc

78-79 will be a XS750F Maroon with gold pinstripe

Starter motors were shared across a few models

I'd be looking for ones off XS11s, early XJ650-750

what's wrong with the old one?

It could just be worn brushes within the starter motor itself.

pretty sure they're Mitsuba starter motors and you can get replacement brush kits easily enough for about $30-40

Just had a quick look around for the manual I had for my old girls, couldn't find it but it could be a hitachi s/m even bearing that in mind there are brush kits available for them also.

CaveCleaner ya should just tell your boy to HTFU & just use the kickstart
