    CBR1100XX Hesitation

    Hi guys,

I have a 1997 Balckbird CBR1100 Carb model and it has a hesitation when opening up the throttle. Gentle roll on seems fine it happens when you roll off and then snap open the throttle quickly.

Not sure what is causing the problem, its been in the shop a few times and on the dyno where they seemed to minimise it but never 100% cured it. I have had the bike for 7 years and done approx 50,000km on it. I never noticed the problem until I had an accident on it and I got it back from being repaired. Bike sat around for approx 3 months while it was being repaired.

Any thoughts on what could be causing the hesitation would be great. The bike is serviced and maintained well.

    Cheers

If it has flatslide (or roundslide) carbs it will do that... I remember reading something on factory pro's site, if a CV carb is thwacked all the way open from idle, then there is a loss of vacuum and a minor bog down while it builds back up, sometimes even resulting in stalling, but i wouldn't know, i haven't experienced it myself.

If its flatslide carbs then don't worry, they all do that... My gsxr with flatslides pretty much allways goes "brrraaaaaaa #thwack open throttle# cough BWAAAAAAAA" if it is anywhere under 5k RPM

Oh yeah, balance your carbs, will make it run alot better.

To be honest, it could be alot of things, incorrect needle position for one. Wrong size main. But if it was tuned on the dyno these should all be pretty well set, chances are something probably got shaked outta whack when you binned it, check balancing and what not.
