Continental tyres?

Anyone tried the Continental tyres for touring yet? If so what mileage are you getting out of them?

Reason I ask, we had a tyre techo at one of our monthly club meetings, he said we could expect 15.000+ ks out of their product.

Does anyone agree with him as I am about due for a set of Tyres after getting 8.000ks on a Michelin Pilot Road Rear, and maybe 9.000ks on the front. Also a Pilot road. I look forward to any comments.

on my katana 600 i get about that out of a set of them.

Been on my Contis' for 4k now and are wearing really well and I'm impressed with their performance so far.

I had Dunlop on before and got 11k out of those and when I got the Contis' put on I was told that I should get around 15k out of them. Of course getting mileage out of your tyres also depends on how you ride and pressures etc.

Try out the Contis' huckfarley. Conti also promotes that if you dont like the tyre in seven days they will replace it with a tyre of your choice.

I might just heed your advice and put Conti's on. I like.. The no like, no buy Business you talk about.

I ride pretty hard so If I got 10k out of them I would be stoked.. Tell me how have you found them in the wet? That is of course you have been caught out in the wet... We haven't had much rain down here to speak of in Central districts....Thanks for your reply!! Huckleberry

A fairly hard riding CBR1000RRR owner of my aquaintance is using Conti Sports. He doesn't get many ks but then he doesn't expect many. Thing is, last I heard he's still buying them so he must be happy...

I have conti road attacks on my 955i Tiger and they work well, and are lasting well had them put on in the UK probably 10-12 monthes and 6k or moer ago still going strong, not squaring off provide plenty of grip. Would buy them again. Also i used Metzeler Z6's on my 600 Yamaha in the UK and they were good tyres lasted and handled well.

I cannot comment on the sports touring range, but the Conti sports are awsome tyres, as good if not better than any other brand I have ever used

To be honest we have had very little rain in Auckland too. I do ride rain or shine and what little rain we have had, it would be hard to give an honest reply to the performance of the Contis' as the roads are really slippery with oil and rubber etc on the roads. Winter coming to your town soon though

But Contis' promotion gave me the motivation to try them and if I didnt like them.....no worries.

Use them all the time - Conti Tours, and get about 15,000+ even two-up and with a bit of gear.

No problems with them in the wet - but then I ride EXTRA cautiously in the wet.

Front tyre on the T-Sport is on it's last legs - but it's the original Dunlop with the Harley-Davidson lettering - AND it's done 22,000km.

Probably hard as hell and I'd not trust it too much in the wet.

I've got Pilot rd on the front and Macadam on the rear, 16,000km so far and judging by the tread left still good for another 10-12000km.

Well thanks all for your thoughts on the Cont'is I have bought the Idea that they are for me and my 07 Triumph Tiger. I have been offered a set for $550
fitted. Is this about the right sort of dosh to pay for a set? Just checking as tyres do vary a lot from shop to shop. But whatever the cost I am sold on a set so thanks again for all the feedback.

Wow that's a lot of serious ks on your tyres. I see you are riding a Guzzi. It must be very light and nimble to be getting that mileage out of the tyres you are running.
Also can you elaborate on the tyre called a Macadam, because I have never hear of them.
To be getting the mileage out of them that you claim, they must be a hell of a hard tyre. If it is I would imagine they would be very slippery and dangerous on wet roads. come back!!
