Smooth (greaser) landings impress your passengers but they cost you runway (you float down it a bit before touchdown) and if the runway is short, Like LCY in this video, then a positve touchdown early on is the more correct technique. But not that many and that hard. I am sure they all were sh!tting bricks over that one...
I like to be impressed... This was Brisbane airport, so plenty of room there. Your comment about "this mob" is a little disturbing...

More points are awarded if you DON'T leave a twisted, smoking pile of aluminium on the runway

I was there 1999-2000 as a contract capt, they were an airline in trouble. They had grown too quickly and were in a bit of a shambles. They had two accidents back then, killing a whole bunch of people (we try not to do that really). There has been some restructuring and so on since (a name change), so perhaps things are better now. Perhaps.
If you love it, let it go. If it comes back to you, you've just high-sided!

    Thanks, that's very reassuring...

Mind you, being at the pointy end of the aircraft does mean that you're the first to know about it and the first to feel it, generally. You don't often hear of a plane backing into a mountain...
