Went OK despite forgetting back protector and having to ride home to get it (not too far luckily - and warmed up the tyres for the next practice). 2 wins in the pro twins (where are u all??!! - dont be embarrassed get those things out!) despite a lousy start after watching the lights in the first race and not the flag guy (duh). Also won the first F3 race OK after everbody missed the first corner (thanks) except me and I tried not to look back - mainly just watched the fuel light change modes and prayed for the white flag to appear... Last F3 race another lousy start, by the time I was in second it seemed like Paul Buckley had half the back straight but caught him OK. Getting past proved a different matter, with Paul shutting the door a few times and riding prety hard, nearly highsiding onto the back straight (nice darky). Anyways couldnt make anything stick so it was big grins and thumbs up at the end like a couple of idiots on the cool-down - despite not winning was definitely my most enjoyable race of the day, with Paul buying me a beer down the pub after the meeting so he could retell the details - nice.
Prize giving was a pleasant suprise getting 2nd in F3 points despite getting washed out and crying off home in round 2. Someone was given my PT trophy by mistake however so apparantly thats in the mail (heard that before).
Overall a wickedly fun series without that seriousness of vic rounds - just the way club racing should be - PMC have been running great races for decades.
Thanks to all the friendly KBrs who helped out:
Dave (road rash) for giving me some gas after running out, Billy for lending some tyre warmers (normally dont bother but might have to buy some now ...), Nicksta and Leong for letting me share the shed, Frenchie for pulling cool wheelies to give me something to look at on the last lap of 2nd protwin race (welcome to RR ing, ignore those black flags - PMC black flagged me once for going too fast(!) on a practice day on the old track - they used to have a `take it easy board' that I hadnt seen!).
Next time you see svr it will be trying to be a F3 bike with shiny gold forks and slick tyres. Not trying too hard tho as will still have lights etc...
See you all again Anzac day track day or VMCC rnd 1 ?? - Stop in and say hi so I put names to nick names,
Cookie.
PS - congrats to all you KBers out there doin' it or helping others do it!
