I am paid on salary .. so the hours I work are not as relevant as I don't get paid if I do more than 40. My contract expects me to work 40 .. and I average between 38 and 45 hours per week.

Yeah, me too, except I average between 3.8 and 4.5 hours actual work per week. Makes my hourly rate even higher.
Either that, or it means I'm effectively paid to browse KB.

Define "average figure". The 'average' compared to the 'actual' sound pretty damn similar to me.

Im on a 40 hour week salary. Sometimes I only work 5 hours a week sometimes I can work 80+. I get paid a decentish wage but my job sux! Sometimes I think it may be nicer to get paid less and enjoy my job. At the end of the day I only work to live!

I work on average 45-50hours a week, and in the 35-40k a year bracket.

Ive beem running the parts dept for the past 4 years and they still wont up me to parts/accessories manager. I asked for more money and was told they will think about it. That was 3 going on 4 weeks ago.
Hense why im interested in what other industries are like.
