Possibly, possibly not. 30 years ago he might have gotten away with it as a household accident, the way 30 years ago child-molester priests got shifted from diocese to the next, rather than prosecuted.

    OMG - OMG - OMG!

I don't think your kids would have been in any danger, in the same way a P- Lab makes for an excellent, quiet, well behaved neighbour.

    Still. .

Wanna bet. They were there - you just wernt aware of them. And P users are more common than you might think - in all stratas of society!

That's scary shit....these guys live in a whole world made up in their head, and it's very easy to be sucked in by them - I reckon if someone seems just too much a good guy he's one of these...

Closest I been to one is a guy I helped set up a MTB race with,we had a good time doing the race weekend with him...then a few weeks later he kills his girl friend with a knife.

Proportionally the level of offending probably hasn't changed. The population has doubled in 40 years though, and where there used to be a little bit of state run telly, moderated newspapers, state radio, and the odd film newsreel, you can now get "news" in every concievable media format, straight off a PC. You have to fill up that space with anything faintly newsworthy (or not) - apparently. Moral and ethical standards are of ZERO concern to anyone in an editorial role.

I hate that this guy will get "help" once he's part of the judicial system. He should be working to help his victims by digging for roading material with his fingernails and chewing the gravel to the right size for chipseal.

After his 'experiences' he will probably become a social worker....

Seems you have to have been 'saved' at some stage to have any credibility... 'course us friggin' people wot never ate any babies or never murdered anyone wouldn't have a clue about coping with life would we?

Glad it worked out. Sorry you had the experience but the simple fact is the person that does you the most harm is the one that you don't expect..

Personally, the excessive taking of herbal pills would have set all sorts of alarms off for me but thats easy to say with hindsight eh?

Is that a rhetorical question? If not the answer is ALL OF THEM.

Hitler, Bundy, This Guy, Manson (well ok maybe not Manson, lol ). What do they all have in common? Their Human, the ability to be good and bad, nice and nasty. None of them were Evil, and I do always chuckle when I hear people called that. People are much worse. Least with pure Evil you'd know what you were getting, with people you don't.

What's worse is everyone is capable. I have a great deal of trouble distinguishing between the society sanctioned soldier who gets payed to murder people and the average joe killer.

A little side fact. Bashing a babies head in isn't new, minutes after Caligula was assasinated they did it to his 3 year old daughter against a wall. This is the world we live in, and always has been.

Recent news: an Indian couple strangle their 13 year old son after having to move multiple time due to him stealing from neighbours.

To be honest I never planned on having kids for exactly this reason. As it happened though I'm now a dad and loving it. I can't say it even scares me anymore. You can't let it, if you do the fear can consume you. The worlds a place with joy and pain, love and hate, birth and death. I can sometimes see why people turn to the opiate of the masses though, no individual really has that much control over things.

Glad you and kids are ok Slipstream, use this experience as a positive and saviour ever precious moment you get to spend with them, because either way it'll all be over much too quickly.

Crikey. And to think we let him take Tim for a ride on the back of his R6 as well...

It's enough to freak you out ...
And I to my motorcycle parked like the soul of the junkyard. Restored, a bicycle fleshed with power, and tore off. Up Highway 106 continually drunk on the wind in my mouth. Wringing the handlebar for speed, wild to be wreckage forever.

    That is very, very true.

I've known several users from *radically* different social strata. You can just never tell.

Oh for the good ol days of the hangmans noose. Used to cut repeat offending down reall good.
But you're right, he'll get counselling and help etc, and they'll take pains to keep him away from child loving mongrel mob types.
Bout the only thing that lets me sleep at night is they all have to answer to God sooner or later and that there are no lawyers or complete bullshit appeals at that particular trial.
    Thats my 5c anyhow

Glad to hear you and your kids are ok Slipstream

Repeat offending, yes (if you got the right person). Innocent people wrongly executed, yes. Disincentive to others contemplating similar crimes, no.

We live in a (so-called) civilised society, where democracy and the rule of law apply (mostly). While offended at barbarous crimes wrought inhumanely against the innocent and helpless, I find the thought of capital punishment and revenge killing even more offensive. I condemn all thoughts of vigilante justice or "mob" rule.

I must admit to being somewhat undecided on that issue. I find that I am frustrated with these sort of things going on, but at the same time realise that permanantly removing these folks isnt a viable option either. So, I am thinking that it is a case of damned if we do string them up, and damned of we let them go. Anyone got any ideas on how things could be changed for the better?

Oooh, let's have a capital punishment thread. We haven't done that in a while.

    Who's with me?
