What is it about people that makes them vote in socialists, even though every socialist govt that's ever been has failed, bringing poverty (and worse) as they do so? Maybe, deep down, people just don't want good livings standards, food, etc

Saw an article that summed up some stuff quite well - while the guy is talking about the socialist party in Germany, you could pretty much swap it to describe our own beloved Helen's regime:
