    '06 Slip-on on a '04 R6 and how loud is too loud?

I'm doing a bit of research on replacing the stock can on my '04 R6 for a shorty gp style slip on. These are the two I'm looking at - both are for '06 models so according to what I've read I'd need to have the inlet pipe on the new can widened (by a 1/4 inch).

I can't find any info on how loud the GYTR is, the GPR is supposedly 92db.

I understand that on an R6 you're unlikely to get more than a few hp improvement from a slip on so the improvement would be primarily asthestic.

    GYTR:

    GPR
    http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Mo...-149580535.htm

So this all poses a few questions:

    - how difficult/expensive would it be to modify the '06 slip on to fit on my '04
    - how loud is it allowed to be? I'm happy to join the "I like it loud so cages can hear me coming" crew but at the same time I don't want to become a cop magnet...

Oh, by the way did I mention I GOTTA R6!!!!! WOOP WOOP! It's so light! ahem, not that I didn't love the Thunderace, just a bit heavy is all. anyhoo back to the discussion on the can options....

Sorry, I can't be of any help to you but only to say I like the look of the G.P.R can better.
Congrats on the new bike too . I don't think you'll be disapointed.

Thanks, funny actually that's where I got the info on the GYTR, however they don't really say how to widen the inlet unfortunately and I'm keen to know how much hassle/expense it would be. I prefer the GPR however it's quite a bit more expensive so I want to be sure I'm going to be able to fit it properly!

there was a video (i think) on youtube of a guy putting the standard 06/07 pipe on to his earlier R6. Sounded pretty mint. Remeber it is going to be loud, the 06/07s get away with those exhausts because they have the catalytic converter in the way to remove some noise... the full systems, or slipons with the cat. converter removed are quite loud.

    have a browse on youtube.

It's better to not pass and know that you could have than to pass and find out that you can't. Wait for the straight.

Local boy Mr Slingshot has one of these on his R6, which is like yours.

Or maybe not, but it's a triangle Yoshimura thing. It's nicey nice.

Fitting doesn't seem too hard at all: http://www.yoshimura-rd.com/images/p...df/1361272.pdf

Not cheap, but Yoshimura stuff always seems to be good quality.

Hmm, much food for thought. These seem popular with the Amerkin R6 owners, could pick one up for US470 incl postage:

It's a bit hard to tell whether replacing it with an 06-08 CAN would be more hassle than it's worth

AHA! Think I might have a winner - HR-1 Riot Series which is made for the 03-05 model. Looks and sounds damn sexy and makes the back look nice and clean and floaty.
